I'd love to see Laura Bell as Jenna - plus, she's very familiar with country music, she'd bring the southern roots of the score out so easily. Imagine her belt on "Sugar, butter, flour: don't let me down!" - heaven.

Other than midwest accents the show had no country music at all in it and isn't even set in the south. It's set in Springfield which I'm guessing is Missouri.

when I google about Waitress (the movie). the state isn't specified, but they use the words "Southern town". and Kerri Russell uses a strong Southern accent in the movie

From my understanding the pie contest is advertised as being in Springfield and Jenna is saving up money to travel there, so I actually don't think the diner is in Springfield. I believe it's in a Southern or Midwestern small town. Springfield is such a popular city name that it could be anywhere and I'm guessing that's why they chose it.

Yes I was wrong. The pie contest is there but they are located somewhere in the Midwest according to the Playbill. They have Midwestern accents. Not Southern accents.

I live in Missouri and no one here has the accent that is used in waitress. Neither do any of my friends who live in other parts of the Midwest. It is definitely supposed to be set in the south.
The movie is set in the deep south according to both the Wikipedia and the IMDB page. The musical website and the Wiki page only refer to a small town. I won't be seeing the play for another month. So I can't speak to the playbill.

I really hope they get Carmen for this. It would be SOOO GOOD.
There are Springfields in 35 states. I think thats the point, to show that this story is generic, adaptable to everyone.
Granted the music itself is generic, but hey, thats my opinion.

West End transfer with Rachel Tucker in the lead confirmed (I'm kidding, but she's absolute perfection for this role). And for that matter, a Dear Evan Hansen transfer with her playing Heidi.
Waitress can be cast with a lot of musical theater A-listers because of the fantastic score and near perfect character development, but I just can't help hoping that it doesn't happen. The Broadway production is too noisy, in my opinion. The direction is not focused. It loses some of its strength because of how many interpretive dances are going on for instance. The on stage band still boggles my mind. Anyway...

Don't be surprised if they announce a new Jenna for the tour. Something is brewing.

Did something happen with Desi?
Ok but why would Ana go on tour and not Broadway? So strange.

There was a rehearsal video where desi seemed to be messing up. I don’t know if that’s the reason why and I wouldn’t think it would be since Desi seems to be a pro. But that’s what I’ve got. I’ll try to post the video, but I don’t know how to on here.

It might be for A tour stop. Just for a few weeks. Like I said something is brewing.

Maybe she'll do a stop then go to Broadway?
If this is true, I hope Desi is alright. Did she get hurt?
I'm not sure why people think Sara Ramirez would make a good Jenna. I think she's exactly the opposite of Jenna. More of a Becky.
Rebecca Naomi Jones would be an interesting Jenna. I also love the suggestion of Lindsay Mendez and Ruthie Ann Miles.
