Didn't her friend go over to everyone waiting for her and tell them that she was gone and there was no point in waiting there? I mean, whether or not she was gone or not, I would think the point is she probably wasn't going to stop to sign. She doesn't have to feel like talking to people she doesn't even know, every night.
Anyway, she's not a bitch. I mean, if you're gonna call her that based on one encounter, why should she stop to sign for you?

I'm waiting for an encounter when she's not nice.
She signed at Rent.
She signed at Aida.
She signed more than anybody else at Wicked...took photos until it got really crazy.
She signed at Zipper.
She signed on the Rent set.
She signed in Provincetown.
She didn't sign in Boston.
Bitch.
You have to consider the fact that the Boston venue didn't really lend itself to a stage door situation.
LOL. Exactly. She's one of the most fun, sweet people on Broadway that I've met. And she probably has one of the CRAZIEST fan situations to deal with.
most of her fans are rabid.

Wow. I love how fans make me a bad guy for telling MY story. *rolls eyes*
First, I didn't hunt her down.
Second, no one at that point in the night had said to me or the other two girls that she wasn't coming out, that she had left, that she wouldn't sign anything. There was no one there but me and the two girls, as she was still on stage.
Third, I'm not rabid. Far from it.
How grand for you that she was nice. But that wasn't my experience and my feelings about it are my feelings. That's that. I'm not going to apologize for the fact that I think she's a little too full of herself.
well you're great friends with her...so you're in the position to judge.
No, not making you a bad guy. Just saying it's pretty silly to judge her and call her a "bitch" and say she's "into herself" based on one experience. From my experiences, she's far from it. And I was also saying what I saw with my own two eyes on Saturday...which was her friend telling everyone that she was gone, and there was no point in waiting anymore.

I saw the 7:30 show last Friday and I throughly enjoyed it. Idina's gorgeous in person. I don't think pictures quite do her justice and an incredible vocalist/performer. Loved the little stories and ancedotes as well.
Only sour points of the show for me. As several people mentioned, their were the crazy, teeny fans present at that particular show as well as little kids. The little kids, however, weren't as annoying as their mothers, who felt the need, somehow, to shout out random, stupid things during the audience particpation part and at other innappropiate points in the show. The thing that really pissed me off, though, was this one girl who was from Florida, I guess she'd traveled to Boston with her family to see Idina's show. Wow, give her a medal. Anyway, Idina was talking about when she was injured before her last show of Wicked and the girl shouts out how she came all the way from FL and payed $500 to see the show and Idina got hurt and wasn't there. It was said in a very, rude, accusatory manner. Bothered me a lot, because it was unnesscecary. As if it was all Idina's fault that she fell down a trap door.
People like that, are the one's who give Idina fans a bad name.
That woman/family from Florida was obnoxious. I think Idina was actually embarassed for her...and rightfully.

Wow, people turn incredibly catty when they don't get their own way. I guess I didn't realize someone became a bitch if she chose to, oh, live her life and not talk to every single person waiting for her. The people who begin the rumors that Idina is a bitch/inconsiderate/hates her fans are the people who wait obsessively and who don't get their own way. Anyone I know who has met Idina, myself included, has stated that she is warm, genuine, open, friendly....in my own experience, I had the opportunity to spend about a 1/2 hour with her in her dressing room at Wicked last year thanks to my husband, Joby (her dresser), and Idina herself, and I found her to be one of the most fascinating, funny, caring people I've met, and I was able to gauge that in the small amount of time I spent with her. Just because she doesn't stop for every single person stalking...er, waiting for her outside of one of her shows does not make her a bad person.
I wonder what it's like to be perfect....
OK, I have to say, I just read your story again, defygravity73, and I'm finding it really upsetting. It doesn't seem like Idina to act that way, honestly...which is why I'm saying don't jump to conclusions.
Where were you waiting for her exactly?
I think maybe to help all these "Idina is rude" comments and the "no, she's not she's tired and she's incredible when you meet her," we should distinguish public Idina from private Idina. I think anyone who has spent some time with her will agree that she is nothing but genuine and kind..BUT perhaps at events where there are fans and signing a lot of autographs and such is involved that might not always come across.

Now, I've never had the oppurtunity to meet the woman, but I have heard from several people who have met her on a one-on one basis and said she was incredibly sweet. I don't know if perhaps she uncomfortable being more open in larger group settings or approached for her autograph or what...I'm not making allowances for her, because as I said, I've never met her, but others have mentioned her shyness around large amounts of people, etc.
In my opinion, I don't really care if she's nice or not, because she's an entertainer and her job is to entertain. I totally understand that if certain entertainers are rude, it sours your experience, but for me personally, she's a fabulous singer and whether or not she's a sweet person, isn't gonna change that for me.
I think I would love to watch Idina b*tch slap some tween.
"My name's ih-DEENA BITCH!" ::whack!::
She's hit me once, that was the best.
____
And, I mean even if she didn't do this, seeing her perform is present enough, BUT...
The first time I saw her was KC's last weekend...KC didn't come out (and I didn't really care) but Idina did.
She signed the normal people, we were on the side, behindish her car. She got into her car and someone called out, "IDINA!"
She got out of her car and signed for us.
Then she signed her last week.
I think she's insane for doing that. Crowds suck.
Thenardier- the hitting comment was great. I literally laughed out loud.
And just to add...every time I met her, there was at least a small crowd there...and she was STILL wonderful! The first time I met her at Wicked I bought her "Here" CD and that's what I wanted signed at the stage door. So, we go to the stage door and I hand her the CD and she looked at me and sincerely thanked me for buying her CD and said something along the lines of I hope you like it...I asked her if she could take a picture, she said sure, as long as I had a camera ready, I did...she took the picture, thanked me again, and moved down the line. Haha, she made me feel like I matter :)
And, for anyone who cares- I think I'm set for Sunday!!

I wish I could go on Sunday!!
I've only had good experiences with Idina. Back in Dec of '03 it was a snowy sleety crappy night out. There were no barcades at the Wicked stage door back then and there were about 8 of us waiting. She signed and took pictures with all of us from her car even though it was crappy out and I'm sure she was tired.
She even came out and signed when there were death threats against her.
She is an amazing performer and from the experiences I've had a good person.
Meagan - I want a full report when you get back from MV....I would love to get to go to a 21 and up show!! That way I wouldn't get death stares from the mom who walked past my cousin and I with the 10 year old. Of course the stares could be because we both commented about "Ugh, not another young one at the show" lol
haha I was thinking about that girl the other day...
it looked like she was trying to dress up like Glinda! no?
Understudy Joined: 4/19/05
oh yes...the pretty blue dress. However I don't think the big black combat looking boots really were Glinda-esq.
true.
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH! 8/21/05
Hehe..that was funny. Bet a few mother's covered their children's ears there.
whatever...the mother's are dumb.
They should have bought the tickets...it's not like she was calling this "tour" Elphaba in concert! The mom's probably would have been better of with something like The Wiggles Live! or Dora on Stage.
ahhh thenardier... you make me laugh
But I wasn't joking - she really did hit me with a playbill.
haha thats pretty cool, but THIS:
"I think I would love to watch Idina b*tch slap some tween.
"My name's ih-DEENA BITCH!" ::whack!:: "
cracked me up
