re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Now booking through to February 2010, that has to be a good sign.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I've a feeling the wheels of the priscilla bus will keep going round for a quite some time.

A slow start but word of mouth is so good and every night it is doing solid trade. I just wish it had the Prince Edward for it's home to stop the only negative press surround it which is the buisness with the seating. But even if you do get a slightly obscured view for a minute or less, you'll still be in for the ride of your life. I think its fab and think it could be three years on the trot that a man dragged up a women wins the oliver award for best actor...Tony Sheldon is awesome!

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Tony Sheldon is looking more and more like Lauren Bacall circa 1970 (APPLAUSE) everytime I see him.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I think that was possibly the last time Lauren Bacall smiled.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Have to bump this thread *just because*.....

I was chuffed to see extra merchandise on sale at the Palace t'other night (esp the poster!) and can't wait for the London cast recording. Also really looking forward to the West End Live performance AND can't wait to see what Forbidden Broadway make of it all.

Hopefully I will get to see / hear / know / buy / experience every element in the coming months.... re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

BTW, I'm liking the Lauren Bacall comparisons: Bernadette is one of the classiest women I've ever seen on stage and I actually think there's room for her to expand her resume. re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Sadly there will be no London recording of this show.
Sad because it is very different o what people will hear on the Australian recording.

S'riously? re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I thought the OLC album had already been recorded (according to what I read on the website). What happened???

I was really looking forward to it! And I wasn't born yesterday, but I've been concerned that the signs aren't as they should be for possible a Broadway transfer - but at least I thought there was the guaranteed consolation of a new album to look forward to. :-/

EDIT: Sorry to sound like a nay-sayer! Also, I have been listening to the original Australian Cast Recording for a few months now and I love it, just wanted to hear the London cast's take on it. :-{

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Would it really have been that different? From what I've seen/heard online it sounds very much the same and both productions have Tony Sheldon in the lead role. How different would it have been?

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

The only differences between the Lyric/Regent and the Palace productions are the new bus, some new costumes, the terrible sightlines and a Kylie medley that happens on Uluru before We Belong (which I think is new).

Absolutely no need for a new cast album, except maybe to please all the Jason Donovan groupies?

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

In case if there was a demand from Donovan fans (I doubt it)why not have him go into the studio record two tracks and tac them onto the end of the current CD?

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Never underestimate the Jason Donovan fans. They swarm the Palace theatre in their hundreds and scream the place down when Jason hits the stage. I think he'd sell a great many copies of a London cast album.
Also, Zoe Birkett...one of the "Divas"... is a recording artist with quite a following.
But otherwise, you're right. A new recording would sound almost identical.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Why don't you just go and see it?

The show is better seen without knowledge of which song the cast are going to burst into. It definitely adds to the hilarity of the song placements.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I doubt Mr. Donovan would play Sundays. The change in schedule falls in the middle of the cast's current contract so there would be a LOT of opposition.

Personally, I'd love to see more show's playing Sunday performances. I wanted to see something a couple of months ago and the only choices were STOMP, LION KING and LE CLIQUE.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Do the contracts mention the times of performances or just an 8 show week. I have rarely seen a contract that says you are set to curtain times.
I think the crew will try a fast one but most of the problems that prevented Sundays in the past were dealt with by the unions late last year.
Hope it works out.
