I didn't realise that the management encouraged audience participation.

At this rate they'll make you an honorary cast member. Now Mama, please tell me you are not wearing drag this time.

The 100 performance photos look good.

Lol! A trifle embarrassing for ITV.com. Maybe they've been subtly influenced by scenes of dancing cupcakes...re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Will be giving Wednesday a week! Sorry to hijak a thread, but HOW is jersey boys still selling?

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Because the songs are fantastic and the vocals incredible, particularly Ryan Molloy's! They were the best thing going at West End Live and must have sucked in a whole new load of fans from that performance.

Seeing it on Saturday night (12th) for the first time.

Can't wait - anyone else from this board going to be there ?

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Producers have now asked all agents to remove any reference to cast holiday dates from websites and literature. Summer sales aren't great apparently and the fact that Tony Sheldon, Oliver Thornton and Scott Robinson all have time off in August isn't helping.

They're putting out a 'you pay to see the show, not the actors' line. As true as that is in an ideal world, it doesn't work like that. I reckon they'll get some pissed off customers while they just take the money.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Not sure where some of this info is coming from as i've just spent a week on holidays with a cast member and they are all bemused and amused by all this speculation.
After 'Oliver' its the best selling West End show!

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Hmmm... Jason Donovan's holiday dates have been well-publicised since the show opened and he is by far the most well-known (over here) of the three leads, plus actors taking up to a week off during the summer is a common occurence in the West End so not sure why any absences / holidays would lead to 'pissed off' customers who feel they have been ripped off (as lp implies)? I took a friend to see Spamalot at the Palace a couple of years ago - she's a huge, lifelong Tim Curry fan and he was out that night, but we loved his understudy and she had a fantastic time. I've seen Priscilla with JD's and OT's understudies on and can't say the audience reaction seemed in any way muted or diminished. In fact I'm sure some people weren't even aware of the change!

James1969: do you mean you'll be seeing the show on Saturday 11th July? If so I'll be going (again!), think at least one other BWW regular will be too. Hope you love it as much as I do!

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I know Donovan's have been well publicised and Thornton and Sheldon's are out there too, but all ticket agencies have been asked to remove them by the producers via See. We all got an email yesterday. I'm not sure how it will affect sites like westendunderstudies.com, but they have requested all holiday dates to be removed from all ticket sites. When I probed further, I was told that ticket agencies are now only allowed to inform customer's of a cast member's absence dates if the customer specifically asks. It sounds bloody stupid to me, but summer sales are not as good as they'd hoped or are letting on. They're not appalling and the show isn't suffering, they just want to pack them in during the holidays and they're not managing the holiday sales Mamma Mia!, Wicked and Oliver! are getting.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Hey James and Tiggo, I'll be there on Saturday night (it's my birthday) in my fabulous new outfit - even Liberace would think it too OTT. If you see me in my feathers(!) say hello.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I'm arranging that you get pulled up on stage for Farmers Boy!
#392

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I'll look out for you John - if you're wearing feathers it's only right that you take to the stage during farmer's boy! You might not look out of place up there during the finale either... re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Saw this again last night! This time from the Dress Circle!

Audience were poo, but I was the only one their under the age of 40 it seemed! Two people did storm out half way through with a look of disgust accross their faces! But I LOVED it... again, I'm sure I will be back in another 3 weeks now! Hahahaha, I hear my declare myself a Priscilla addict!

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I personally think its a loud of crap...but it does have its moments and I wouldnt say its anywhere near bad enough to walk out of
#397

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I thought it was a bit crap too but didn't feel the need to walk out. In the second half I realised I wasn't going to get anything from the story itself so I just sat back and let the garish colours and loud music wash over me. I can see why people like it but after the first fifteen minutes, you've pretty much seen the whole thing. The kid at the end was cute though.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I must admit I was not too keen the first time I saw it but after giving it a second chance and a second visit and after many listens of the soundtrack (so camp but so good!) I thoroughly enjoyed it. I could happily go back to see it again. I think if you go expecting a deep storyline you will be disappointed. If you go expecting a camp, fun, exciting and colourful experience then you will really enjoy it.
Upcoming Shows: 9 to 5 (Birmingham), Priscilla (Wimbledon), Matilda (London), Cats (Manchester) and others TBC.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

Oh, I don't know, I think there's a fairly deep storyline there. Underneath all the glitter and sparkle is a show with a big heart that speaks about love, acceptance/discrimination and friendship. Yes, the focus is on the spectacle and the disco, but there's more to it than just that.

re: The Big Pink Bus Has Departed

I've been reading the above posts and thinking that there must be a new song called "Farmer Boy", then I realised the song you are referring to is "Thank God, I'm a Country Boy".

What's with all this dressing up in costume? To the best of my knowledge this never happened in Australia. It must be something that is peculiar to english audiences. Very strange.
