Tony leaving

Just 4 weeks and 35 performances left of the wonderful Tony Sheldon's performance as Bernadette.
Will the show ever be the same again?
Will the show survive all the unnecessary changes for Broadway?

See it now or regret it forever!

Tony leaving

Actually Mama, I reckon it's only 3 weeks and 26 performances to go after today (not that I'm keeping count or anything)! Tony leaving

Mr Sheldon is due to be away from 15th-20th Feb, back on the 22nd.

I have to wonder if the US producers have seen his performance if they've not yet announced his transfer to Broadway - he would be ahead of the bloody bus on my list!

My next door neigbours little girl is called Tigris and we call her Tiggy.
She's an adopted ethiopian girl!

I'm touched if your neighbours named her in my honour after you spoke so highly to them about me Mama! Tony leaving

Although I suppose there's always the REMOTE possibility she was named after the river....?

Anyway, to get back on topic/track. If anyone on here HASN'T yet seen Tony Sheldon as Bernadette in Priscilla: Go now, run fast, get the best tickets you can, tell all your friends (and if they happen to have ANY connection to the NY producers, tell them they need to slap them silly until they realise they HAVE to bring him over with the show). Thank you for listening!

End of an era as I see it.
Just on my way to the big smoke to catch the wonderful Tony Sheldon's final London, ground breaking, performance in 'Priscilla'.
Looking forward to a fun weekend in London town.

He has to be Broadway bound, surely.

LOL - Well it has to be said... Tony is incredibly talented and that alone would make it difficult to replace him BUT his work ethic is also the stuff of legends.

Its vindication in a way to Tony of just how difficult that role was to maintain for 8 shows a week and what a wonderful job he did night after night.

Tony's replacement

I feel somewhat for Don Gallagher - not only does he have an extremely demanding role to play, but he has an amazingly tough act to follow in Tony Sheldon. However, I understand that Oliver Thornton has also been off this week with voice problems, so maybe the demands of the rehearsal period have taken their toll.

I agree though that, in a way, it is vindication of Tony's legendary commitment to the role and the production. Let's hope the US producers sit up and take notice.

I am on tenterhooks waiting to hear whether the Broadway production will be graced with the presence of the original Bernadette. He deserves nothing less and NYC deserves to see him in his full glory.

Tony's replacement

So who are the new Bernadette understudies?

Tony's replacement

The rehearsal period should not effect the number of shows you do in your opening week.
#644

Tony's replacement

The first and second covers for Bernadette haven't joined the company yet, hence Mark Inscoe being recalled at short notice.

Tony's replacement

I'm sure they've joined the company, they just haven't rehearsed the role yet... does anyone have the new program?

Tony's replacement

I think John Brannoch is going to be the second understudy.

Tony's replacement

I sit corrected! Good luck to the lovely and talented John Brannoch if / when he gets to go on as Bernadette.

I must also say I was disappointed for the equally talented and lovely Phil Arran that he never got the chance to play the role in front of a paying audience before he left the show.

So does anyone know who the first cover Bernadette is going to be? I assumed the covers would be older than anyone in the present company, hence my thinking they hadn't yet joined. Me bad!

Tony's replacement

Having read the bios of the new cast on the website, I would think Robert Styles is likely to be a Bernadette understudy. He seems to have a lot of classical theatre under his belt... However, I could be wrong...

Any Photos of the new cast in costume yet?

Tony's replacement

I saw Phillip and he was incredible as Bernie. What a shame that he didnt get to be seen by a full house.
Mark Inscoe played it more like a temperamental drag queen or a Norma Desmond on speed.
Not a great performance.
