Not DR ZHIVAGO?

Maybe Michael Crawford might take over from Tony in that role. I am sure I read last year that Michael Crawford was up for the role, but then they went with Tony insted.

Michael Crawford was avery, very early name the producers played with and thankfully rejected the idea very fast as they did with Paul O'Grady.

isnt it about time a new bernaedette was announced and for the cast change details to be finalised?! i mean its just over 8 weeks to go till the changeover and nobody is sure whose staying, whose leaving etc. (apart from Tony)

I would assume that since both Director Simon Phillips and his Associate, Dean Bryant are involved in staging The Drowsy Chaperone for the Melbourne Theatre Company at the moment, a decision on re-casting won't be made until sometime in January. They wouldn't cast a new Bernadette without Simon giving approval.

I was speaking to Mr Sheldon last week and apparently his replacement is already lined up. Not sure when the announcement will be. Tony leaving

I've had my ticket for the last show with this current cast booked for quite a while. It'll be my last visit to the London show too - can't get excited about Tony Sheldon's replacement and the fact that Clive Carter is also leaving seals the deal for me.

I look forward to seeing CC in his next role and hope TS gets to debut Bernadette on Broadway next year before becoming a regular guest actor in the West End in years to come (if he so desires). Tony leaving

Saw Priscilla tonight for the 4th time.

Kyle Medley/We Belong has been COMPLETELY re staged so that it now takes place on the stage rather than on top of the bus.

Adam/Felicia didn't descend for Venus but was on stage at the beginning.

And have the 3 leads always been atop the bus making the shape of the Sydney opera house, or did it just take me 4 viewings to catch it??

Btw, Paid £20 each for two prime grand circle seats from a woman selling her tickets outside the box office. She had double booked! Paid what we would of done for restricted view seats (which we were about to buy). Talk about lucky timing for us!

References to Cher are replacing Kylie for the American production and many new American references are already in place in the London show.

Great result Mark.
I walked past Drury Lane last Friday night and just popped into the box office to pick up some fliers (Jane McDonald at The London Palladium-seats now booked!) and this woman pounced at me asking if I wanted a ticked.
My fast reply was 'why?'.
She said she had a spare ticket and I could 'have it'- I asked how much and the answer was 'nothing, you just look like a theatre person' -what a good judge of character eh!
Anyways, this ticket was in my hand at 65 pounds value! and she wanted not one penny for it.
SO, i saw 'Oliver!' at last from row G in the Grand Circle centre ailse and for ....nothing!
This all took place between 7.26 and curtain up.
Great to see the show but, with much gratitude to the American lady for the ticket, I can only say Im glad I didn't pay a penny for this reheated dogs dinner that maybe Bill Sykes wouldnt serve to Bulls Eye.
Rip off theatre in the extreme!

There isn't a smiley for my face right now!

I would be first in line every night for tickets if they brought the Cher references to London!!!!!!!!! I assume they'll do a different song instead of Confide in Me? Which Cher song would be good?

Jason Donovan has extended to May but wont be doing Mondays, so I hear anyway....

Jason Donovan was given Mondays off a few weeks ago. His understudy, Craig Ryder, does a damn fine job though, so tis nice he gets a run at it.

Word is now out that Tony Sheldon's replacement will be Don Gallagher (Martin Guerre, Les Mis, The Producers). Not seen him on stage myself but I hear very good things about him. I wish him well - he has v. tough stilettos to fill. Tony leaving

Who?
#595

Tony leaving

That is the replacement for Tony indeed!

Who?

Exactly, thats what I thought when I was told 2 weeks ago !
#596

Tony leaving

Lol, I had to google him when I was told his name too.

Wishing him well because I won't be seeing the show after cast change (not until it's in New York anyway).

I'll be really interested to hear about the Cher references in the North American leg of Priscilla's journey - I presume they'll be used in the Toronto production later this year.

Is he currently in the show? It is already listed on his CV. I guess you can expect "name casting" when it comes to Donovan's replacement in a few months time.
#598

Tony leaving

I think the fact that 'Priscilla' was added to Don Gallagher's online CV was the confirmation of his taking over from Tony Sheldon. If he'd already been in the show prior to that I certainly wouldn't have had to google him!

And I agree that they'll probably try to replace Jason Donovan with another 'name' when the time comes - I've heard Neil Morrissey and Peter Andre among those being bandied about so far {shudder}.
