Im friends with a person who is in the possible line up for taking over from Jason...if he gets it itll be awesome X
#602

Tony leaving

Will he sell tickets?
#603

Tony leaving

Does he have a fan base that will surround the Palace Theatre?
#605

Tony leaving

Mama, Tony had absolutely no fan base in the UK, except for a few expats like myself, when he started. Yet his performance is so exquisite that he will get a rousing send off in March.

Maybe Don Gallagher will have a star turn in the role and blow us all away?
#606

Tony leaving

I do hope so just for the sake of the show and what Tony brought to it over the years.
#607

Tony leaving

Please shed a few extra tears for me at his final performance. Tony's performance of Both Sides Now will always rate as one of the most heart-breaking scenes I've ever witnessed live.
#608

Tony leaving

DONT!

I'm taking 3 friends from Spain and they are so excited to see the show.

Are you taking your friends to Tony's last show Mama? The applause and cheering is bound to be loud and long that evening, so I hope it doesn't spoil the flow of the show for them.

I'll shed a few extra tears for you that night boyfromoz. Even though he wasn't really on my radar a year ago, I'll be extremely sorry to see Tony Sheldon leave these shores - lucky you to be in Oz when he returns to the Australian theatre scene! (though he may take a well-deserved break before getting back into the fray).

Anyone else apart from Mama and me going on 6th March?

Oh they are as camp as the show itself and they had the CD off me etc for ages now. They are expecting nothing less than a party!
Where you sitting Tiggy? We must at least say 'hi' on the night.

I'm front row Mama. What can I say, I just couldn't resist the chance that some of Jason Donovan's glittery spittle may land on me (expect to see it swabbed, bottled and listed on Ebay within 24 hours if so). ;-}

Priscilla is never anything less than a party. I'm expecting laughter and tears all round (and not just in the front row)!

I was in row B for the first preview back on 10th March last year and I wouldn't miss the chance to give Tony Sheldon the rousing send-off he deserves for the world.

I take it you're somewhere in the stalls given that the Palace don't have stairlifts installed? Tony leaving

Was just looking at the new cast list as per this article:

https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/PRISCILLA_QUEEN_OF_THE_DESERT_THE_MUSICAL_Booking_Extended_Through_226_20100128

The Christopher Drake listed & linked there was born in Alabama in 1929, making him 80. Isn't that just a bit old for the role of Bob?? (Though he's listed as 'completing the company' rather than playing a particular role. Not sure where an 80-year-old would fit in the current ensemble)!

This is hardly him is it?

I am seeing the show for the first time on March 12. I missed Tony by less than a week. I always did have rotten luck. Is Clive Carter out of the show also? When did he leave? Thanks
#617

Tony leaving

A "Bob" who is 80, sporting a deep south accent, that should be a treat!
#618

Tony leaving

No offence to Christopher Drake Senior but I think I prefer the 'blonde, blue-eyed, muscular' younger version jamiekenney linked to above! Tony leaving

EDIT: So I guess the role of Bob will either go to Jeremy Secomb (1st u/s) or someone who hasn't been confirmed yet?

Artman: that's very bad luck missing Tony Sheldon by such a short margin. Unfortunately Clive Carter also leaves on 6th March. Can you reschedule for before that date or are you flying in from overseas?

Congratulations to Mr. Gallagher and to the rest of the new company, I'm sure they will be fabulous. Taking over as Bernadette was not going to be an easy job, whoever landed it, and I'm very glad that it has gone to an experienced STAGE actor, rather than a name. Mr. Sheldon shall be missed, but since he has to go, all the best to Mr. Gallagher and the new cast!

I only hope this show doesn't lose its Australian accent.

It will be a huge shame to see Clive go, he is also gab, but he's going onto a MUCH bigger role, which I am looking forward to seeing!

Priscilla without Tony is very hard to imagine. He is the heart of the show and has made Bernadette his own over the last 3 years or so. Good luck to Don and farewell to Tony in London at least. I'll be there to say goodbye on 6th March, though I suspect he's only saying au-revoir to Bernadette with Broadway beckoning????

Tigg....I'm flying in from Florida. Well at least the cast of Sister Act extended. Thursday(The Misanthorpe), Friday(Priscilla), Saturday/barhopping, Sunday(Legally Blonde), Monday(Love Never Dies) and Tuesday(Sister Act). On top of that going to Winsdor Castle, Hampton Court Palace, Leeds Castle, Dover, Canteberry, Kensington Palace, Tower of London, Westminister Abbey, British Museum, Tate Modern, Tate Britain, St Paul's Cathedral, Jack the Ripper Walk, London Dungeon Experience, Thames Cruise,Tower Bridge,National Gallery, Royal Albert Hall and the Changing of the Guard. All in six days!!!!!

.... and breathe! Actually sounds like a great itinerary, just don't do too much rushing around during the day and fall asleep in the theatre in the evening! I speak from NY experience (albeit of being in an overheated Marquis Theatre for a not-particularly-riveting version of White Christmas).

You've picked some very upbeat shows though, so you should be OK. Tony leaving

I wish I could tell you that Tony and Clive had extended their contracts in Priscilla , but all good things must come to an end (or hopefully just a hiatus in Mr Sheldon's case).
