Priscilla , Queen of the Desert

I saw Priscilla in Toronto just before it close. It a nice show,
(just that its another show built around a bunch of '80 songs)
Story is condense version of the movie. The Bus , the Costumes ,
& Tony Sheldon were the star of the show. Nick Adam had a few
moments, and Will Swenson was nice. It's a crowd pleaser as it
had a pack house and their was buzz after the show.

I saw the show in Toronto over Christmas and really didn't like the amount of changes they've made from the London production. I understand replacing Kylie with Madonna, but they've also replaced some other songs with really inferior numbers. Was Downtown (Petula Clark) not a hit in the States? Replacing that with It's Raining Men was a really bad choice IMO. Also cutting the final scene entirely made no sense whatsoever as it didn't tie up the loose ends at all. And having Benjie appearing right from the start was really bad too IMO.

The cast were average too. After seeing Will Swenson in Hair earlier this year, I was expecting him to be a great Tick, but he was only ok. And Tony Adams is nowhere near as good as Oliver Thornton in the London production.

I really hope the show does well on Broadway as I think it is a good show with a good book. But I hope they change a lot of the stuff back to how it is in London first.

Saw the show in Toronto...It was amazing in my opinion! Not a thing needs changed. Going to be a hit in New York!

I loved Priscilla in Toronto and I think it is going to be a big fat hit! My only wish was that they kept "Both Sides Now." There might be more changes before they open in NY, so you never know.

I think Priscilla is going to run Sister Act into the ground.

The majority of people who see Priscilla in New York won't have anything to compare it to and will enjoy it for what it is. Great music, outrageous costumes and lots of energy. So sorry
you were disappointed in the Toronto show.
