OH, MARY Reviews (2026 New)
 Feb 18 2026, 09:32:42 PM

I loved Morrison. Everything about his performance. The great thing about this show is the debates about casting and character choices. Makes it fun. Everyone is going to relate differently to actors. I don’t care for Harris at all but I don’t think she ruins the show. I’m glad some folks love her.

I’d actually like to see Kathryn Hahn as Mary. She was a trip in Boeing Boeing. She is a twisted trip as an actress.

It appeared on socials that they were fairly close at the time of both of the other runs, so I’m a little surprised. Doyle also seems to have scrubbed his profile of any traces of Sinatra. Makes me think there’s some bad blood."

That is really sad. It must hurt. Now he’s do

For those prices you should get to meet her and have her sign your book.

Sinatra the Musical - Update

I feel bad for Doyle. I saw him in concert in 2024 and he did two songs as Frank. He truly sounded fantastic and got me excited to see him in the show. He also told an anecdote about how Sinatra’s daughter, a producer, chose him for the role. She called him “our Frank” and welcomed him to the family. Showbiz is a tough business.

Will anyone ever drop the ball as Mary? So far everyone stepping into the role has been praised. I wonder if anyone will ever tank it?

Jane, John Andrew and Cheyenne were my favorite cast so far. I’ve seen Cole and Betty. Jane was less deranged than Cole or Betty but she made it her own. I loved her interpretation.

When I saw Cole and Betty I had a harder time understanding lines and jokes and the audiences loud laughter was stepping all over the dialogue. That didn’t seem to happen here. The audience was wild for the show and laughed their faces off but they didn’t seem as obnoxiou

I think Kathryn Hahn or Molly Shannon would be brilliant and would probably sell tickets.

Ben Platt & Rachel Zegler - THE LAST FIVE YEARS (NYC/LA)

Haven’t we had enough of that inert show that requires intimacy between actors and audience?

Let’s stage it in two enormous spaces. Sounds thrilling.

Im still hurting from the last flop.

Don’t like what I hear. Where’s the power, the heartbreak, the pathos in the song?

Hmmmm

Marla is the reason to see this show. The “stunt”

casting does nothing but increase the budget. Cox is so lackluster and not a comedienne. I’d have preferred Missi Pyle.

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES To Close January 4, 2026

This is a total aside but I thought of it since Kristin was just injured. It seems like she makes her curtain call entrance down the middle of the stairs in heels with no railing. I found this rather precarious and dangerous. Isn’t there something like an Equity OSHA that would forbid this. This tiny actress descending stairs without three points of contact. I was worried for her.

Even Sherie used the railing during her curtain call.

He’s far from cooked. He thrives on provocative press. He's an enfant terrible who will work this once he’s out. His career is built on things like this. The big question is how accountable will he be held. I’m imagining one of his high profile friends can make some calls. He’s friends with Madonna, Rihanna and budding lawyer Kim K. They’re all in his phone. I sense he will rise from these ashes with more material.

It seemed like her magic was limitless. It’s not clear. Can she deflect bullets? Can she knock all the soldiers over? If they are simply holding her can’t she blow them off her? I guess it’s not clear. Just a quibble. I still greatly enjoyed the film.

Overall, I enjoyed the film. I liked its darker tone.

My opinion on the weakest link is Yeoh. She wasn’t menacing enough for me. Not terrifying in her split personality. Many Morribles terrified me with their end of Act One proclamation. I think a Glenn Close or a Toni Collette would have been way better.

Also one thing I can’t get past. If Elphaba can levitate with Fiyero, couldn’t she have taken him with when she escaped the guards?!? Makes

It's a total puff piece. A backdrop comes down with the name and logo of the charity and Cheno discusses the charity. It feels really hokey and shilly. I thought they were about pass buckets around the audience. It completely took me out of the show.

The diary piece was definitely cut. Jackie must not like it.

As far as the mention that Cheno's energy seems low on Broadway, it makes total sense. She's carrying this show on her back. That's gotta be ex

No diary selling line in the show last Saturday.

Also, Cheno didn't seem to have the dramatic chops to pull off the Norma Desmond-esque ending. I think it needs more dramatic heft than Cheno flitting about.

BC/EFA Fall 2025 Fundraising

Oh Mary had cast signed posters for $250, Playbills for $100 and Jane was selling her book of sonnets for $500 signed “Knock yourself out, freak! Love, Jane Krakowski” she also said it had her “cheat lines.”There was only one which she should have auctioned but she said it would be with a random volunteer in the lobby. I couldn’t find said volunteer.

Just In Time was selling posters for $300 or $350 and Playbills for $175. For $20 you got

This was an interesting show. For me, it started out well. It seemed campy and like everyone understood the assignment. It was moving along briskly. The cast was fantastic. Then Jonquil showed up and it got muddy.

Then I started having questions like who is this musical for? Are we supposed to feel anything for these people? What are Jackie’s goals? She’s really a garbage person. The musical didn’t really answer those questions and Jackie was never able to get me on h

I thought Stock was marvelous. I felt he did a nuanced job playing a developmentally arrested man looking for a corrective emotional experience to heal his child wounds.  He would regress into childhood with both someone who wanted to save him (James) and someone who could not (Sarah).

James probably has his own trauma from his “perfect” family as he clearly tries to fix people. He may be codependent.

CHESS Previews

I went in never having seen a previous production of Chess and never listening to the entire score. I knew the “hits” from various standards albums. Overall, I had a lovely night. I think the score is sung beautifully with a great orchestra and a stellar cast. Everyone is firing on all cylinders. The score sounds like an old school 80s mega musical which makes me feel warm and sentimental.

If I had to name a Chess champion, it’s Nicholas Christopher.
