Musicals You'd Like to See Jon M. Chu Adapt for Film
 Nov 25 2024, 11:36:55 PM

I’d like to see him do Sunset Boulevard with Glenn and Hugh Jackman. He’d make such a beautiful and opulent film.

I saw the film today at a weekday morning showing (trying to avoid kids, parents, costumes, hats and singing.) It worked. Only three adults in the theatre. Heaven.

My only real quibble is they don’t show Michelle Yeoh’s face during her fiery condemnation of Elphaba. I always found that so chilling on stage and gave the actress playing Morrible some room to show rage, contempt and unbridled evil. Also Yeoh is so beautiful and I think it would have been effe

It’s really embarrassing to see all the celebrities shill for each other. So many artists, musicians and theatre folk posting their pics with Elton and Jake. Just gushing superlatives about the show and how brilliant it is. They’re all tagging each other and raving about the show, music and lyrics. Most of them had to think it was hot garbage but they want their 15 minutes next to Elton. It’s such a game and so disingenuous. It’s no wonder so many people are sick and t

I enjoyed the number, and Mark Evans was great, but wish they had introduced his character. I had no idea he was Billy Graham until she said "hey Billy."

Wow, what a crummy choice of song to showcase a show called TAMMY FAYE! The average viewer might not even know that little cameo by Katie is Tammy Faye. Man, that choreography is even worse than I remember.

I understand producers don’t often like to give away the money shot for free but let Katie do one of Tammy’s solos to sell some tickets and show her chops. That performance was like a bad night at a Dollywood theme park show.

i saw the third preview with a friend who just went back and saw the show again. They didn’t notice much difference. Whoever is saying the show is very different and better might be mistaken.

Tammy was really interesting and charismatic. It’s a shame they failed to create a dynamic musical to convey that.

it almost seems like Jake Shears has been pushed to the side in terms of advertising his contributions. That may be for the best since this is turning out to be a huge dud.

My experience was the opposite! I was sitting in the orchestra and was kind of shocked at the narrow staircase leading down to a very cramped and chaotic queue for the inadequately-sized bathroom. It looked as if no consideration had been given to expanding that bathroom or making crowd

Patti LuPone called a privileged, racially microaggressive bully by Hell's Kitchen cast member

Yes, it is used constantly for going after people and is pretty much the norm. But in my comment I suggested that Kecia take her own advice, that she repeated a few times in her video, and address Patti directly. Invite her to talk Directly. As she mentioned, I think, they are right next door so what stopped her from going over and talking to Patti in person?

She is supremely talented as an actress and vocalist. I wasn’t referring to her creative work. I was saying she’s not a professional insult comic or drag queen adept at throwing shade. She just sounds miserable and petty. And it’s tiring to listen to her complain about everyone and everything. I

I love how many people are acting like Kecia is so out of line for coming for Patti on social media, like Patti is some demure wallflower who “handled things the right way.”

Patti LuPone is a bull in a china shop who takes any opportunity she is in a public forum to bash someone, shame someone or just be plain nasty. She is a bully still trashing Madonna and ALW after 30 years. Get over it lady. Maybe people in the community are sick of her antics.

Can nothing be a private conversation anymore? Must all of our battles be played out on social media?"

I think that is part of Kecia&rsquo

I wonder how the cast deals with the bright lights in their eyes and continues to sing and act. Don’t they have halos after the lights are gone. Can’t that type of intense light damage their eyes?

I completely understand Lewis’ points. They make sense to me. She was very gracious and diplomatic. I wouldn’t have been. LuPone is often entitled and rude. She can also be incredibly mean and cruel.  She’s also most likely unaware of how what she did could be seen as microaggressive, which is why Kecia defined it politely. It’s time someone called her out and asked for an apology. Almost 30 years after the Evita movie Patti is still dissing Madonna. I love h

That simply isn't true. Steve Pieters was in need of chemo for another condition besides HIV and was therefore unable to travel. A flight would have greatly compromised his immunity. But you are correct in that he was not in the studio.

I really don’t understand the Olivier love for this show. Katie’s performance was really hyped and while I appreciated it, I didn’t think it was that special or memorable.

Cool. Those of us who saw the show in London and liked it (along with critics from NYT, The Guardian, Time Out London, Evening Standard and others...) have a different opinion and thats what makes the world go 'round.

I’m getting the sense the show was better in London. I wish I’d seen it in a smaller house before it was tinkered with

The more I reflect on this show, the more I think this is worst Broadway show I’ve ever seen. As others have said, it’s really jumbled. There’s no clear arc or narrative. At times Tammy disappears. What happens to her isn’t clear. When did she start using drugs? Was that why she was so oblivious to what was happening? How did she get off the drugs? I think she could have a better trajectory in the show.

Also I’m having a really hard time

Also there this afternoon. It’s an odd show, but overall I enjoyed it. I don’t think it’s long for this world. I saw lots of issues.

Katie was fantastic but as someone else said the accents are all over the place. When she’s actually doing Tammy she’s great. She does hold the audience in the palm of her hand for her big numbers. As another poster said they just come too late and aren’t enough. Another noted that it was nice to see a

Yes they are offering refunds to anyone who wants one due to Hiltys absence.  Still a sold out wildly responsive audience. Kaleigh was sensational. She actually resembled Streep in her blonde wig and physicality. She crushed it. You’d never know it was her first show. She and Simard has terrific chemistry.

As for the show, I found it to be a ton of fun. The lyrics are really funny and I had no issues with understanding them. The cast had great diction

When is Sinatra supposed to open? Interesting to have Sinatra and Darin both on Broadway in 2025 played by two former Melchoirs and friends. Many people wonder if Darin would have exceeded Sinatra had he lived. Many argued he had the better voice.
