I can see why Floyd Collins isn’t selling. Watching Jordan slide along the floor isn’t compelling.

Jennifer Lopez to Star in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN Film
 Jun 5 2025, 06:11:47 PM

I won’t judge it until I see it, but J Lo seems like J Lo. She doesn’t seem like a character. Also her voice sounds different. I sense it has been quite altered especially if she is belting (she can’t belt.)

Having just seen Shakira I think she’d make a better Aurora.

I’m surprised at all the love for Cox. I’ve seen her in several productions and have yet to hear her sing on key. She’s always flat and caterwauling. Not pleasant.

Im all for non-traditional casting but Alex doesn’t seem glamorous in the ways the role requires. I wonder if Sherie Rene Scott would be interested. I think she’d be great. She’s a great actress and can do camp and serve b*#chy.

As for the continuing attendan

I think Kathryn Hahn or Molly Shannon would be brilliant and would probably sell tickets.

The Wiz Tour Feedback
 May 9 2025, 08:15:53 PM

The talent was decent but it was cheapest looking and ugliest tour I’ve seen in ages. Sets and costumes were awful. I was expecting a lot more since they were touting it came from Broadway.

Who’s He Talking About?

Mr. Wormwood said: "He's super annoying but his Beauty and the Beast parodies had me howling back in the day"

He stole the idea from Wendy Ho who did it years earlier. He apologized to her when she called him out.

Hugh Jackman at Radio City

I also find his vocals completely lacking and often “enhanced” in concert. I’d never pay the obscene prices for someone who doesn’t sing better. He is very charming and a talented actor but I pay to hear songs sung well.

I don’t think the number of quick changes or not leaving the stage for almost two hours is a justification for a leading actor calling out with regularity. If they are having difficulty with the demands of the show then conversations need to happen about alternates. Even during rehearsals or previews. This allows everyone a better experience-both actor and audience.

Also, I don’t think it’s accurate to say most people don’t notice. I think most do notice.

CONVERSATIONS WITH MOTHER @ Theater 555
 Apr 10 2025, 07:36:32 PM

I typically enjoy Lombardo’s plays. He writes snappy dialogue. I felt this show was rather inert. I feel that plays that show short vignettes over the years don’t build a satisfying dramatic arc and this fell into that trap.

It was a short two hander but I got bored with the rote presentation and scenarios. Both actors are great but they aren’t given enough to do. Aaron is given a good amount of cringey creaky sitcom dialogue (saying M & Ms

I have tons of compassion for performers especially post-Covid. It’s insane how much stuff is going around and how it affects the voice.

However I’ve attempted to see this show four times and not once have both leads been in. I think it’s a problem and producers need to look at an alternate schedule to give these women some respite.

Reminds me when I tried 6 times to see Olivo in WSS to no avail and three times to see her in

OH MARY! Replacement Casting Thread

I revisited the show with Betty during her last week. I preferred her to Cole, who was also great. She was slightly more deranged for me and oddly creepy in a funny way that Cole was not. I think I appreciated the script more with her in the role. It’s really subversive and funny. When. I saw it with Cole I couldn’t understand some of the dialogue. It’s easy to miss a lot.

My only complaint was I was seated next to a cackling queen. This seems to be

I adored this play. All of the actors are incredible. Joanna Gleason shattered my heart in the most beautiful way. Andrew is sublime and carries the play. Jeanine was a force of nature. It’s a very personal play for Harmon and it’s very moving.

The theatre has stadium seating so I’d sit in the last row center rather than the side. My only gripe is playing $135 and having to sit in those hard stackable chairs for two hours. It’s really hard on t

BC/EFA was collecting tonight. Selling signed posters for $300, signed Playbills for $60, Sunset Boulevard Sheet Music signed by Tom Francis for $100 and Sunset sunglasses. (I didn’t ask how much for those.)

There was a dog bark on Wednesday at the show-any chance a staff member or someone at the board has a service animal?

She was firing on all cylinders. She was incredible. She may have had a cold but she sounded great, She would wipe her nose occasionally tonight. I found her acting to be the best of the Roses I’ve seen (Peters, LuPone). She was very organic and seemed like a real mother, not a caricature. I thought the entire cast was great.

Audience was rapturous.
