Wonder which theatre it will take.
They are quoted as saying "summer or fall," which corroborates what someone said in another thread just yesterday.
I know that people hate when other people say this, but a VERY good source (my friend's mom is in the ensemble)told me that they did have some concerns about coming to broadway with the crap economy, but they are coming, and they might be taking the St. James.
Wasn't the show always slated to take the St. James?
The house manager at the St. James said she heard that's what's going in there next.
I'm actually really excited for this. I'm not sure how they'll do in this economy, but I think this one has the potential to enjoy success similar to that of The Drowsy Chaperone.
I haven't heard anything from this, only seen the pics and I wish it the best of luck I just hope they hold off just a bit, I think it might help if they open closer to next years Tony's, and hopefully there will be a little more stability on Broadway but it looks REALLY good!
I agree that it makes sense for ANY new musical to open in the Spring, closer to the Tonys. Opening in the summer or early Fall can be deadly, and surviving through the tough months without any awards buzz can be difficult.
The show can succeed on Broadway if the book gets re-tooled. The songs and musical numbers are wonderful, the cast is great but the book is way too corny and not funny enough. I have faith that Bob Martin can re-tool the book and make it as funny as Drowsy Chaperone's book was.
I'm so excited for this!
All the criticism of the book is that the view of burleque and strip joints is too aniseptic and "cute". It needs to have some sleaze and bite.

That seems stupid. I mean, maybe their take on the whole situation is suppose to be "cute" instead of sleeze. Chicago did sleeze/dark well, and Sweet Charity did "cute" well.
(on a different note, I'll never understand why Title of Show didn't open in March/April instead of July. What a dumb move.)
