It's really a tragedy that Ms. Channing has not appeared in a Broadway run since her return as Dolly in 1995. I wish she would make a return to Broadway in something but I realize the chances of that are very slim nowadays.

She really DOES look absolutely wonderful @ 90 and has aged very gracefully.

She is an intriguing talent. She has some of those aspects people usually associate with "bad" performances or non-talent; her voice may not be everyone's cup of tea but it's one of a kind and oddly pleasing, even if it does tend to sound screechy or "funny." Her voice definitely doesn't fit into the typical Broadway leading lady mold but that's what I love about her.

And she's quirky as all hell in real life. That's a huge plus to me, lol.

If you read my article, you'll find, sadly, that Carol probably won't be performing much anymore. Maybe she'll sing a number here or there, but as far as headlining a show, that's highly doubtful.

I know. It would have been great if her one woman show could have had a longer more high profile run in NYC. It's just sad that her last Broadway performance was 16 years ago! She is just such a legendary talent. I always think it's a special treat when she performs or makes an appearance.

Please remember, Carol is now 90 years old. Both she and her husband are aware that her performing days are pretty much over.

now i never liked carol channing i could never understand the appeal..having never seen her live I made all these assumptions. Well I was talked into seeing Hello Dolly the last tour and I have never had so much fun in a theater. Carol is one of the best LIVE performers ever to grace a stage.
Unless you see her in person you will never understand how..funny..cute..amazing and it is the difference between a film actress and a broadway star ...I hope you live forever!!!

I just got so choked up by the end of that BCEFA Gypsy of the Year video!
What a wonderful woman.
May she live forever!

Oh, and honestly, she is one of the most stunning 90 year old lady that has ever graced the stage. Love, love, LOVE HER.

Unfortunately, Carol is cutting back on her performances. She'll be making personal appearances, but you won't be able to see her in full-length shows or concerts.

Yeah, I read all of that, that's too bad. But understandable. Great interview, though!! A friend of mine saw her sing in the holiday concert for the Fresno Philharmonic and sent me a copy of it on vhs. Said she went backstage after and Carol stopped HER just to tell her she adored her sweater and they began talking for a while. What a sweet, down to earth lady.

She also sent me an autograph once with a sweet letter, after I sent her a very old playbill of an out of town try-out for THE VAMP.

Thanks, Pal Joey, for sharing that wonderful video. My experience with Miss Channing was not completely a happy one, but I've got to tell you that when this woman steps on a stage the years disappear and she is utter and pure magic. And so fun to see my pal Randy Slovacek next to her.

Thanks, when I clicked on the first link I didn't notice the Page 1 link at the bottom at first, but I figured it out! Great article, I enjoyed it a lot. So good to see she's still so passionate about the arts and hasn't lost her verve for life.

Also, in the first paragraph...not sure, but I think "inimical" is a bad thing...did you mean "inimitable"?
