This is so stupid...

As much as I love Laura Bell Bundy, that commericial was very bad.
Terrible promo, but the complete lack of singing led me to investigate the CD itself, and... I really like it. Not the promo, but the CD seems like pretty good fun! So has the promo worked? Difficult to tell! O_O
I have no idea what she's going for. Her marketing people are whack.
Cute? Yes. Smartest marketing move? Not at all. It seems like the other videos Laura Bell made to promote the album (the Cooter County website).

Th reviews I've seen so far of the CD are very mixed. Most can't seem to figure out whether she's trying to be seriously country or just complete camp.
The infectious lead single "Giddy On Up" has been described as "a breath of fresh air" and "nothing short of a new female anthem" amongst industry critics...
Really? a "new female anthem"? Isn't this the one where she plays the whore who shoots her john all the while doing that tacky Jerry Mitchell Country Bear Jamboree choreography?
I wonder if "Desperado" is on this CD; it would be more appropriate.

It's pretty sad that I liked this commercial.

The commercial is cute and humorous, but it features no music and if you ask me, it wouldn't propel me to look her up to listen to tracks. Also, someone watching might not know if it is a parody. It's bad from a marketing stand point IMO.
I have laughed every time I have seen the Giddy On Up video and not in a good way. I swore up and down that it would NEVER be a hit. It's like #10 on the country charts or something. I REALLY don't get it.
That review was really glowing and in a substantial way. The author really notes how LBB and her music stands out in a mature, provocative, and fun way. I agree with the reviewer that the sexless pop of Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus could use some dusting off. Maybe LBB will make an impact. I dont have my finger on the pulse of Country so Im not sure how she fares, but he did compare her to Dolly and Shania. Thats pretty flattering.
I also read on Laura's site that she never aspired to be a Broadway star, but it paid the bills. This CD is her first love. Good for her.

I thought that this one was kinda not good, but - and this is coming from someone who finds her terribly annoying - I thought the Cooter County ones were genuinely funny.
They just ran a promo during RuPaul's Drag Race.
The song is only at #38 on the country charts at the moment. The video may be doing better -- but if so, I don't think that's because of the song, if you get my drift.
Personally, I think her PR people are geniuses. I keep hearing the song referred to as a "hit," and she's even got a spot on the upcoming ACM Awards . . . and yet I think I've heard the song on the radio a grand total of three times. And I listen to country radio nearly every day. Of course that's only anecdotal evidence, but I don't think it's nearly as much of a hit as they're making out, at least not yet.
tacky Jerry Mitchell Country Bear Jamboree choreography!
I love that phrase. I'll be saying it all afternoon...
