re: Pryce and Butz Depart Scoundrels July 16

I'm very surprised that Pryce is leaving so early - I guess I'll have to try to see the show next week when I'm in town, as that will be my only chance to see Norbert and Pryce perform together.

and if you think about the movie, Steve Martin at least LOOKED a lot older than Norbert, so I don't think age should be that much of a factor.

Yay for Brian!!!

WRQ - Greg told me a few weeks ago that Jonathan WAS going to be starring in the show in London. That's why he's going back now.

re: Pryce and Butz Depart Scoundrels July 16

I think Pryce was planning to only make his replacement run six months long, enough to make him eligible for the Tony (although that didn't happen).
If Percy Blakeney were in Les Mis....

Percy: Sink me! If it isn't Javvurt!
Javert: Zsah-vair, it's pronounced Zsah-vair.
Pecry: But it's spelled J-A-V-E-R-T Javvurt.
Javert: Repeat after me Zsah...Zsah....
Percy: Oh! Zsa-Zsa! Like the Gabor sister! Well I personally have always prefered Eva.
Javert: (Looks for gun)

re: Pryce and Butz Depart Scoundrels July 16

I want to see it like this:

Lawrence: Brian Stokes Mitchell

Freddy: Brian d'arcy

I saw the OBC (Well....John Lithgow was sick....it was the exact day before Thanksgiving)

That would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool! I only know Brian from Sweet Smell of Sucess and Leutinet of Inishmore(Maybe something else) I HATE the idea of Barry Bostwick.

I had zero desire to see this show again after all my favorite guys left it - but quite honestly, Barry Bostwick would bring me back. I just love him!

re: Pryce and Butz Depart Scoundrels July 16

Jonathan was also only here because of the exchange program, the same one that brought Simon Beale here for Spamalot. Am I correct to wager it is for six months only? I know Beale was not in Spamalot much more than that.

re: Pryce and Butz Depart Scoundrels July 16

I highly doubt Pryce made his contract totally around the rules for the replacement Tony. Come on.

And he planned to leave this date way before the whole no replacement Tony fiasco, so that's not why either.

Maybe there is another reason...

Brian is going to be amazing... I may be a little biased, being ridiculously obsessed with the man... but I simply cannot wait.

re: Pryce and Butz Depart Scoundrels July 16

I think SirLiir hit the real reason: Equity rules. I know they're very strict re:foreign actors. I would be surprised if he's allowed to perform for more than 6 months or so, honestly. (Think how History Boys has to be limited run, etc)

The thought of a London DRS starring Pryce does make me want to go back to my favorite city though...

And I'm glad I bought my ticket a month ago! This is going to be incredible.

re: Pryce and Butz Depart Scoundrels July 16

I agree, I don't think Jonathan came to do the show just for the Tony. His reaction to the award not happening seems to have given the people idea that he's this award crazy guy. I think Ryan's right, it just has to do with Equity rules. See Jon if you get the chance, though. He's INCREDIBLE.

re: Pryce and Butz Depart Scoundrels July 16

yeah, Pryce just wanted to help out his friend Lithgow, and London "equity" rules say that their actors can only be there for 6 months. same if an American actor went over to London.
