Queen Latifah

She was on Watch What Happens Live tonight and when asked about Broadway, she said she was offered a production that went on to win several Tonys but the timing didn't work out. She wouldn't say when or what it was.

Obviously, it's Dolly, right?

She did say she takes Broadway extremely seriously and would love to do a show when the timing is right.

As who, though? John Doyle cast Sofia and Harpo younger than usual in the revival, and she's not right for Shug Avery.

Her name has been tossed around for Dolly for years, I can't imagine she wasn't referring to Dolly.

Did she say it was this season? If not, the possibilities are pretty endless. However I always thought that Pearl Bailey and Queen Latifah look alike and wondered what it would be like if Queen Latifah took on Dolly like Pearl did.

I figured the original Color Purple bc of the Chicago film. CP premiered in 2005, Chicago was 2002. Seems like she'd be approached in 03-04 about CP.
