Is that one person's opinion? Or a bunch of people's opinions?
I notice Young Frankenstein and Cry Baby are recommended, but SITPWG and Passing Strange are not.
That seems to be very opposite than people's opinions here so I was just curious.
you should give shows a chance! stop jumping on the bandwagon!

I do give shows a chance. I live in FLORIDA and have been to NYC 3 years in a row to see shows.

Broadway.com sells tickets at expensive prices ! So, I wouldn't call its reviews very objective ! In my opinion, of course !
Whoever pays them to list their shows as recommended.

WBaF, that can't be the real answer. Does anyone have the answer?
It's not based on reviews.
They just rotate shows in and out of the 'recommended' spotlight.
I imagine shows pay to be in that spot, especially because "broadway.com" is the first thing that Joe Nobody from Podunksville, Illinois will type in when searching for tickets.
Yeah, if you want recommendations based on quality, go to the New York Times theatre website. (Well, quality according to Brantley. But he's usually right.)

That's not true. Wicked's never been recommended. And Mamma Mia has never not been recommended. I don't think they rotate shows from what I have seen.
Well Wicked and Mamma Mia don't need to advertise on broadway.com.
When I say rotate, I mean that they put whatever show pays them.
Also, they sell tickets, and its tough to sell wicked tickets, because there aren't too many available.
It's a money thing.
That's prime advertising space.
people pay to get their shows "recomended" just like those restaurants in the back of the playbill that the "stars" recommend.
sad, but true.
Wicked's never been recommended. And Mamma Mia has never not been recommended.
I wouldn't recommend them either...

Read what I wrote....Mamma Mia has never NOT been recommended.
Oh, well then I apologize.
It's probably there because they pay for the advertising, because its a recognizable commodity to regular Americans.
By the way, that's a terribly confusing double negative.

Sorry for the confusion :)
I'm thinking that the true answer is pretty much what WBaF said. They charge ridiculous handling fees to people that have no knowledge of the existence of telecharge, so it wouldn't surprise me if those "recommended" spaces are sold as "advertisements".
