Hey folks!
Here in Chicago we've got a fantastic regional theater doing a production of Company. It's not great, unfortunately, but I have a question about the script. For the second season with Peter and Susan, out on the terrace, the scene ended with the ladies going inside. Completely cut was the whole conversation about having a "homosexual experience." I know that scene was in the recent concert with Neil Patrick Harris and the last Broadway revival. Is this something you think the theater did on their own... or is this the licensed script now?
FYI-I did see one of the final previews so it's possible they were messing around with cutting the scene and ended up keeping it. I don't plan on returning to see.
Unfortunately that scene is cut out of the currently licensed version.
That's interesting! It doesn't give Peter very much to do. Everybody else gets a "moment." Poor Peter.

When I did the show back in 2009, that scene was still included.

Assuming that's even true, it would had to have been made and/or approved by the authors (or their respective estates). A licensing agency could propose a change but the authors have the final word.
I don't know all the details, but I do know two cases where regional productions attempted to get permission to perform this scene in the last two or three years, and were in both cases denied. I don't know what exactly changed in the last few years, It maybe related to the death of George Furth, but as far as I know a number of dialog changes made for more recent productions have been reversed.
I saw a production just last year that definitely had it in.
