I loved the show and the CD remains one of my favorites. I was so glad the score was recorded to live on after the show closed. Nathan, Roger and everyone in the cast were all so great (and Roger's costume - adorable!).
My post really has no point as I agree with everything that's been posted before.
Yay Frogs!
Oh, and I have the shirt but it's such a livid lime green that I have never worn it. I also have the mug, magnet, pen and window card.

Second-rate Sondheim, tired-gag libretto, misconceived and pedestrian staging=
Forgettable enterprise

..Yes, I know...That is kind of stupid, I am that kind of...just a viewer, you know, SamIAm. Once I got overdosed of Tom Hanks and after seeing that nervous smile at the Oscar (bad combination for me), I stopped seeing his movies. Maybe I saw The Producers with him too many times before The Frogs.
...And I agree with QuiteSo, I also enjoy your post...always. It is always very enlightening for me!
As for my former icon (I just changed not knowing you guys were talking about it...I can switch back if you want
), I PMed back Mythus!

Just the facts, ma'am.
Kathy Voytko's Ariadne wig indeed was blonde, complete with slightly darker roots. Certainly not platinum, but an ash shade of blonde.
Kathy was never in a Broadway production of The Producers, not even for a little bit. She was in Oklahoma and Nine. The Evita production in which she currently stars is a national tour, not regional. Her other Broadway credit is a Phantom nat'l tour.

Thanks for clearing that up...I did remember her with yellow hair, but my friend insisted that she had dark hair. She was wrong! Ha.
SamIAm, are you thinking of Kathy Fitzgerald, who played (among other small roles) Shirley, the butch lighting designer?

I think The Frogs is one of the few shows that Sondheim wrote where the music itself surpassed the lyrics! I love the score!
I think the rewritten book for the revival was just way too transparent as a criticism of the Bush adminstration -when you feel like you're being lectured, you don't respond to what they're saying. If they had made the criticism more veiled but still present I think there would have been less groaning during the show. I definitely think that's why the revival suffered. And I don't think the revival was well directed (I can only speak for the revival since I didn't see the original production)
