TWO QUESTIONS I have noticed that Legally Blonde has NOT shown up on thTDF site for having been NOT available for a few weeks. NOW, they are posting like 83% capacity each week. Are they really not sending any over to TKTS?
Secondly, It shows that Spring Awakening HAVING been on the board every week. Is this a show that is typically on the board daily, or is it on this weekly list because it show up ONE time that week.
Im sure you have guessed what I'm really wanting to know. Should I pay full price for these to shows at the end of August, or is it likely that they will be on the board???
Thanks for listening!
Kev

I can answer the first part of your question...you are correct, Legally Blonde has NOT been on the TDF website. As for the TKTS board...that is something I cannot answer...
I was there yesterday morning (downtown) and there was hardly anything on the board.
I don't understand why shows that are not sold out (like LB) are not up there.

LB doesnt need to be yet. They have a HUGE advance so they are riding off that right now. Also they are doig fairly well in the grosses part so they ARE making money on the show.

Well, he stated your "answer" in his post, so you are really not answering anything at all.
Thanks for the link, Frogs.
I just assumed that any excess inventory would be sold at TKTS. It this not always true? Does this mean that the producers of Legally Blonde would rather have empty seats than selling the remaining seats at TKTS?
Yes, because that forces people, who really want to see it, here on vacation during the summer to pay full price for tickets

The producers of each show make the decision whether to release tickets to TKTS and how much of a discount to provide. Keeping tickets off TKTS, even if some are available, helps fuel the perception that a show is "sold out" and a "hot ticket." It also forces people to purchase tickets at full price. Producers who thus choose to keep their tickets off TKTS even though there are empty seats have made the economic decision that the perception of being sold out, plus the higher ticket prices, outweighs any financial gain in selling the additional seats at half price.
After all, the vast majority of the theatre-going public does NOT read the weekly grosses, and so really have no idea whether or not a show is actually selling out.
hmm...interesting...Well I saw Legally Blonde a few months ago and it was on TKTs then luckily. I would love to see it again, but am not going to pay full price. I'm hoping it'll be back up on TKTs soon (maybe in August when I my mom comes)
fwiw, neither Legally Blonde nor Spring Awakening were at the TKTS booth when I walked by earlier today (I believe both have Wed matinee shows- someone correct me if I'm wrong about that.)
Legally Blonde does sellout their wed matinee, fill up most of the eve shows, and thurs its packed. sat its pretty much the same thing. They have prob alot saved for student rush also.
