I hope he has great talks with Shakespeare, Shaw, Miller and others in heaven!

Rest in Peace August.

re: R.I.P. August Wilson

Even though we knew he had terminal cancer, it is still upsetting to hear this news. I just got finished performing a scene from Ma Rainey's Black Bottom for my acting class and cherished having the opportunity to perform his words. Seeing Gem of the Ocean was a life changing moment. His words were like a beautiful melody. He will be greatly missed.

WHy is this not at the top. Come on people. A giant, a legend dies and we're talking about our favorite Playbills like they are some kinda pet.

RIP man. Hopefully now you will know peace and harmony. You moved me and made me at 12 wish I was black just so someday I could do FENCES. RIP.

Thank you Mr. Wilson for your plays. Many of them were before my time, but I thoroughly enjoyed KING HEDLEY II and look forward to seeing more of your work in the future. May you rest in peace.

With the state of American playwrighting what it is, we could ill aford to lose his brilliance. The loss will be tremendously felt, and the voice we had for a time will reverberate through the ages.

Thank you, and may flights of angels wing thee to thy sleep.

This is a massive loss to the theatre. Very sad that it happened so soon. May he be at peace. His brilliants plays will live on forever.

re: R.I.P. August Wilson

It is always sad when such a great and prolific artist passes away. We were always looking forward to the next Wilson play...the cycle is truly complete, yet will always feel somehow unfinished.

PEACE.

re: R.I.P. August Wilson

I had the opportunity to see a production of "Jitney" here at Actors Theatre in Louisville. It was truly one of the most memorable evenings I've spent in a theatre anywhere. As a teacher, one of my most memorable classroom experiences was showing the film adaptation of "The Piano Lesson" to a sophomore English class. Not only did the students ask to see it again at the end of the school year (and I was happy to oblige), several of them borrowed my copies of his other plays and read them. And these were kids who hated to read! As a theatre-goer and teacher, I owe Mr. Wilson a debt of gratitude. May he rest in peace.

Such terribly sad news. But his wonderful plays will live as long as there is theatre.

re: R.I.P. August Wilson

He will be missed. The DCTC (Denver Center Theatre Company) is the only regional theatre to have done all of his plays in the cycle in order and with the same director. Gem will be done this season and I am sure we will do Radio Golf. He was good friends with our last Artistic Director.
