I figured it was about time this closed. Couldn't see it staying open past Labor Day.

I'm sure you guys ARE aware that RAIN was always a Limited Engagement. They tour the country with this show. This stop on Broadway was only an over-extended stay and they would be closing in September regardless.
They would have to close on Broadway before September 20, 2011 because that is the first date on their tour.
Geez, people.

Posted: 6/20/11 at 12:31pmI take it that was not directed towards me as I knew it was to be a limited run and knew that run had been extended.

Absolutely not. Your reference made it obvious YOU were aware it was a limited run.
My response was to the first 2 idiots who posted with their snarky "ooh, I knew this would close" postings stating that it was another Broadway fatality due to it posting a closing notice.

Yes, it was obvious it was a limited run. But personally, I was interested in the fact that we called it as the NEXT show to close as of last week. Not knowing whether or not it would be RAIN. I simply guessed RAIN last week, based on the weekly gross sales which hasn't been able to go over 55% the last few weeks. Yes,..it was going to close eventually as an extension of a limited engagement. But when? No one knew for sure.
I don't think that warrants standing on an inflated pedestal and calling someone an 'idiot' or 'snarky'.
so... suck it.

Posted: 6/20/11 at 3:39pmWell considering they were selling tickets through the end of the year before announcing the Sept. 4 closing makes me believe they(Producers) were hoping for a longer run.

ACL-
It seemed that they were planning on letting it run until it ran out of gas. Tickets were available thru the end of 2011 just a few weeks ago. Tour or no tour, they were gonna give it all it had.

It's okay everyone... After the tour is over, the show will come to New World Stages and have a long happy engagement

And if that's enough, MTI will be picking up the show for local rights so community theatres can perform the show. There will also be a junior edition of the show!
