Sorry for your friend but the audience doesn't listen to the pre-show performers nor the organ concert that follows them. When the two mighty Whirlitzers can't be heard, you know the audience is loud--and rude.
"
Such a rude and unnecessary comment. Did it make you feel better to belittle this group?

They insisted that they not work with masks, while the others had to do so. I believe in unions but consistently with the stage hand union it is all about their convince and their paychecks before anything else. Plus wardrobe staff did go to HR because of the fact that they did not warn the staff that staff had possible exposure, which is what they are required to do, not the names, but the exposure possibility. They (HR) said it was none of the staff's business and they cut them off quickly and dismissed them.
The freedom to not wear a mask by the stagehands is more important than the ability for people to perform and work in a safe environment. And, my dears, most of them are Trump supporters, so you know the mindset.
You see the mandate set by the Met Opera sets the stage for continued performances despite the curtailing of personal choices - because public safety supersedes a person's preference to be vaccinated and wear a masks. So if you choose not to be vaccinated and wear a mask, you must accept the consequences of being very ill or dying, plus your actions to infect and hurt your fellow workers. Nice Christmas present."
Absolutely not. And I'm not disagreeing that a percentage of stagehands are Trumpers. Without outing myself too much, I work with a LOT of stagehands every day, at many different venues, and there definitely is a large group of Trump supporters, but the majority are not. Also, most stagehands don't care if they have to wear a mask, they're just happy to be back at work after two years of lost work and lost healthcare. If you're going to make a blanket statement, please at least keep it local to the show/venue. It absolutely makes sense that a show/venue run by a major Trump supporter is a hotspot for Trump voters in the industry, but to pin this on the stagehands union (which is encouraging vaccines & masks every chance it gets) and not on bad management is wrong.

Stagehands yap a lot. I should know. I'm one of them. But, we don't set policy, and we certainly did not politic, or negotiate for not wearing masks. Or decide not to test everyone in a regular manner. Doesn't seem to be a issue on Broadway, or any other venue.

Yup. Shut down for rest of the run. Bet they regret the no mask policy now. And shame on anyone back stage not wearing a mask.
