We saw the show tonight and it was thoroughly entertaining-well produced, staged and beautifully designed only 90 minutes!
RCMH does NOT have a mask requirement- they do not enforce wearing masks either inside at the show. As for the staff some are wearing but not all! They even make an announcement prior to the show - Wearing a mask is not required for the performance.
Anyone know why or how this is alllowed because you must wear a mask at Broadway shows-entering the theater and during the performance.
Because of Christmas and Baby Jesus. You’re safe based on those 2. It’s different in a Broadway house.

That should change tomorrow with Governor Hochul’s new mandate, no?

I saw the show last month and, as I recall, there was a pre-show announcement that RCMH has such an advanced air filtration system that masks were optional. The audiences there are so chatty that you may have easily missed it--along with the organ concert that followed it.
as of 49 minutes ago, Dolan the Trumpie can't sicken any more babies some audience members will be going home to after the show.

Not necessarily. The mandate exempts spaces that require vaccination.
That said, I do think they should be requiring masks.

Totally agree - it's a huge space and being cramped in that lobby-landing area for 25 minutes with no breathing room and most not masked made us feel very uncomfortable and then when inside the hall most did not wear masks including the row in front of us and some next to us and when the announcement came on that masks are not required during the performance a sigh of relief in the room could be heard coupled with thunderous applause! WTF?

It's a polarizing issue. Different people have different comfort levels, and thus, will react differently. Some people will not share my view on this, and that's okay.
If Broadway did not require masks right now, I would still elect to wear one to shows, at least through the winter.

Same… but I can handle masks for long beyond the winter in crowded indoor public spaces. Adds an extra degree of caution and allows me to mouth along to entire shows!

That's another plus! And I'll be honest...it takes away the embarrassment if I get the words wrong while I'm mouthing them LOL
I hope the idiots that work there that aren’t already wearing masks finally put them on. Also, James Dolan can go hug a land mine (to quote the GG). I hope there are future posts to this thread about Radio City mask policy.

James Dolan sounds like a piece of work! He must be an anti-vax Trumper.

I can’t say I’m surprised considering Radio City’s so-called “mandates.”
And I won’t be surprised if this happens again next year.
A friend in an a capella group was supposed to perform at this in the upcoming weeks. My heart goes out to all the performers involved. I hope this reinforces the need for better mandates & protocols.
From the email I just received “UPDATE: 2021 Christmas Spectacular Season”
”Dear Christmas Spectacular Fan,
We regret that we are unable to continue the Christmas Spectacular this season due to increasing challenges from the pandemic.
We had hoped we could make it through the season and are honored to have hosted hundreds of thousands of fans at more than 100 shows over the last seven weeks. We have loved bringing back this cherished tradition that helps usher in the holiday season in New York City and look forward to welcoming fans back to Radio City Music Hall in 2022.
Tickets will be refunded at the original point of purchase.
Sincerely,
Radio City Music Hall”
Do we think the actors/crew get paid out or are they just screwed? This isn't an Equity show.
It may not be Equity, but it’s AGVA, AFM, and IATSE. I imagine/hope they will get paid.

If you follow the New York Knicks which are run by Madison Square Garden of which Dolan is CEO, this is no surprise, Dolan is widely hated by fans and deservedly so for many years of acting like his name is Richard instead of James..

Having worked this show for over 10 years, I can tell you that this all should be laid at the stagehands feet. They insisted that they not work with masks, while the others had to do so. I believe in unions but consistently with the stage hand union it is all about their convince and their paychecks before anything else. Plus wardrobe staff did go to HR because of the fact that they did not warn the staff that staff had possible exposure, which is what they are required to do, not the names, but the exposure possibility. They (HR) said it was none of the staff's business and they cut them off quickly and dismissed them.
The freedom to not wear a mask by the stagehands is more important than the ability for people to perform and work in a safe environment. And, my dears, most of them are Trump supporters, so you know the mindset.
You see the mandate set by the Met Opera sets the stage for continued performances despite the curtailing of personal choices - because public safety supersedes a person's preference to be vaccinated and wear a masks. So if you choose not to be vaccinated and wear a mask, you must accept the consequences of being very ill or dying, plus your actions to infect and hurt your fellow workers. Nice Christmas present.

Sorry for your friend but the audience doesn't listen to the pre-show performers nor the organ concert that follows them. When the two mighty Whirlitzers can't be heard, you know the audience is loud--and rude.
