Posted: 9/7/12 at 10:37pmDid any of the European productions have issues like this when they were being mounted? It just seems odd to me that this production keeps running into trouble when it's been done successfully many times over six years. Or more, but I believe the original production was in 2006. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

It probably screws you.
It's cheaper to produce in Europe and the audiences there still swallow this kind of show where as here it's iffier.

Simply judging on the preview video for the show on the website, I feel that this harkens back to the mega musicals of the 80's. I'm not saying that that is a bad thing, but that isn't something that audiences seem to go for these days. That is of course, if it is something like Phantom or Les Miserables, but that is a whole different ball of wax.
Look at recent 80's style mega musicals such as Pirate Queen and Tale of Two Cities. Both of those shows were ones that found a rather limited audience and closed rather quickly. Not that I wish Rebecca ill will (in fact I am kind of looking forward to seeing it because I like that style of show.) But, I am not sure I see this lasting long once it opens. Specially since it is opening in the fall. It may have had more staying power if they opened it up in the spring. But, I have the feeling not by much.

From the beginning, this seemed like a show that just wasn't going to happen. The first postponement last season did not surprise me. This one is just silly. Either do it or get out, and let something great have the Broadhurst.
Worse is the way they are screwing around with the lives of the actors, crew, musicians, etc.... unable to plan their lives and income.
This producer is bad news and I can't see any writers or directors working with him after all of this.

I can see where your coming form. However, I don't believe that having a backer pull out (reason for their original postponement) is the fault of the producer. However, there have been shows that have had a delay in the start of the preview period for a verity of reasons. Not for nothing, but previews don't start for almost another month so any talk of them being delayed at this point is just hearsay until an official word is out. For all we know, this could end up being total BS and the show starts on time as scheduled.

Posted: 9/8/12 at 9:52amShowchoirguy, I was planning on seeing this on November 3. As of this morning, they were still selling tickets for that date. I'm waiting a while to purchase, if it is indeed postponed.

Quite frankly, it's just a matter of bad luck that a major investor, responsible for a third of the capitalization costs, died. The money automatically gets wrapped up with estate and probate issues.
Currently estimating a delay of 2 weeks

Posted: 9/9/12 at 1:02amI had oredered tickets for November 30 back in mid-August. Still haven't received them in the mail... Should I be concerned? Expect a refund? I'm miffed, but not surprised...
