I will be in NYC the day of the RENT BENEFIT CONCERT with the Original Broadway Cast. I saw that they are having a lottery for the first two rows of the theatre for $25 each just like with regular shows. What are the chances of getting in to see that you think? Gonna be crazy amount of people trying to do the lottery??
That crazy show is going to be awesome but $2,000 and $1,000 a seat. I think not. Should I take my chances with the lottery??

I am guessing that 500 or more people will show up, so, the odds are not so hot...

I got it through work.
The performance is indeed a concert, but they are going to be performing the show in its entirety.

I didn't know it was the whole show, I'd asked the NYTW people at some point and they said they "didn't know" so I assumed it'd be a selection of songs.
I don't think I'm going to do the lottery (it'll be either that or go to the show wearing librarian clothes) but I'm insanely interested as to what its going to be like.

Is anyone sure if you can still get tickets. Because I got an invitation but, it says "resposnes must be in by March 24,1006". I hope you can still get tickets because I can't count on getting to the lottery.
Sadly, I don't think they're doing the whole show. It's possible

As of yesterday they were. The lady in charge of the event said the deadline was just to post an ad, not for tickets. If you have access to a fax, you do it that way, if you call the woman first. (the name is on the response card.) Someone else called for me, due to my speech impairment, but according to him, hewasn't under the impression that there was a shortage of tickets. For your info, there will be shuttles between the Nederlander and Cipriani.
Updated for spelling.

My big question about the benefit....
WHAT THE HECK SHOULD I WEAR?!?!?!?!?!
Never been to NYC, let alone to a B'Way show, LET ALONE a benefit that costs $1,000 a ticket.
And do you think I'll be able to bring a camera to the show and/or party?

Well the invite says "Come As You Are", however my cousin and I are planning on cocktail dresses.
You've never been to a Broadway show and you're spending $1000 to go to the 10th anniversay???

^ Yeah holy cow...
And I'm wearing a nice little semiformal - I don't give a crap if there are people there dressed like they came from the gym - if I'm paying this much, I'm dressing up.

If I somehow sporadically win the lottery, my Junior prom dress is coming out of the closet early. Not to mention that I have to cut some kind of semi-important senior bridge year meeting to get there for the lottery, but it's all good.
The invite says "come as you are"? I understand if you like win the lottery but, goodness if you are paying all that for a ticket, can't you try a little more?

Yeah, I know, a bit crazy, eh? What can I say? The tax refund came at just the right (or maybe wrong?) time....
I'm going because I'm a Rent person, not a theatre person. I (obviously) missed the OBC and figure that I'll never have another chance to see them. Although I did see Anthony Rapp do Mark in Chicago in (I think) 1997.
I live in Chicago, so I've seen many of the big shows. Rent's the only one that ever really spoke to me.
As for the clothes....... I'm a little overweight, and I guess I'm worried that everyone there will be hipster, sophisticated types. Ummmmm... I would just look stupid if I even attempted to look anything like Sex and the City. And I have yet to find a pair of heels that I can wear for more than 20 minutes.
Decisions, decisions. But thanks for the feedback!!!!!!

Posted: 3/30/06 at 10:34pmLast I heard they are starting lottery at 2:00 at the Nederlander and they will not let people line up before 1:00 (although how are they really going to stop people?) and they are 20 I thought not 25... as for the show itself I heard they were doing a concert but I have a feeling it will be the show itself, or maybe it will start out as a concert but not last very long as just that. I say fifty bucks by La Vie Boheme they are on the table dancing lol

Posted: 3/30/06 at 10:55pmIt's a concert, it will not be 'the show itself'. These people haven't done the stage show in years. There's no way they could, or would, attempt to do the blocking and choreography required.
