SONY isn't forcing anyone here to shell out $20 to go see this. That's what the tickets are priced. It is what it is. If you don't want to pay $20 to go see it, then don't. If you don't want to pay the price, then don't but don't bitch and moan about something you can't change.
When the show came to my town 2 years ago, I bought the cheapest tickets. It Was $35 per ticket. If I can see it live for 15 bucks more, than is is overpriced
"And We Have A Shepherd's Pie Peppered With Actual Shepherd On Top" - Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney Todd
I'd probably have paid the $20, but I'm seeing it for free, since I work in a movie theater.
If they're doing a DVD, I'd expect it out in the winter, before Christmas and the tour. It's something that would be great to sell at the merch stand. I'd probably only buy it if there were tons of outstanding extras, but we'll see. I'm curious to see how it does. Even at $20 a ticket, it's playing on 500 screens for 4 shows (at really weird times, considering the target audience).
"personally, i think they're expectations for the amount of people wanting to see this are too high. That...or they know not that many people are going to see it so they're trying to make up for it with ticket cost."
"They" are Sony Pictures Releasing, under the banner The Hot Ticket. Sony just did the same thing last week with "Cirque du Soleil's DELIRIUM". The ticket price was also $20.00. That's what it has been for other presentations, too. That's the set price.
stupidbeans, Really? That stinks Mine's letting us see it for free. We're allowed to see any movie as long as it isn't sold out five minutes before it starts. But my theater managers are really lax, so maybe we're not supposed to see it for free, but they're letting us, lol.
They will be selling tickets for the movie at the theaters. Updated On: 9/1/08 at 12:48 AM
Yeah really, stupidbeans, I was a theater manager and we even had test screenings where directors would come to test out the movie before opening and my staff NEVER paid. Even on opening weekend of the hottest film of the year, staff family was welcome. There's a difference between lax and treating your staff with respect. Unless you are sold out in pre-sale for all four shows and you just don't have the seats, what's the problem? It's a perk of the job.
