Sorry but I had to bump this thread. First of all, I'm amazed that I was in the same room as other BWW people when I saw Rent at the Knoxville civic auditorium 3 years ago. Brings back SO many memories. It was my first broadway show and still to this day is my favorite (well, it TIES for my favorite now). When a soon-to-be theatre lover sees his/her first show, ANYTHING is good!! But even I noticed how bad that understudy was. I saw it the second night, so I didn't see the pants-splitting accident... but I remember thinking he was SO bad and i had no clue how he got the part. I'm talking voice cracks, breathy singing, lyrical flubs... he was a complete disaster. I'll never forget the awkward stares he gave the cast-members right before he butchered one of is guitar solos. My god though, the rest of the cast BEYOND made up for his god-awful performance. They were SO SO SO SO good. The Mark was even moved to Broadway right after the tour (Harley Jay). The Mimi (Krystal Brown), is now an Equity actor and performed in "High School Musical" at the Papermill Playhouse. Oh the memories...
Just out of curiosity,
Scarlet36 andparislover87 are you knoxvillians too?

Ahh, so funny to reread this thread all this time later and remember how people were crazy enough to think that Harley was a better Mark than Declan was a Roger.
^ Ah, doesn't it bring back great memories! We all need a bump in our day, I vow to bump an old thread every day.

Wow, thank you for bumping something that made me think Indy was actually getting a spot on the tour again... Way to break my heart when it's a review from freaking 2006! lol
Incidentally 11/5 in Indy was my first time seeing RENT! Good times. I miss that cast!
