RENT is coming to Sewell, NJ which is like 20 to 10 mins from me and I'm planning on trying lottery. Is this worth it? Is the tour any good?
I know its only 20.00 but I wanna know if this is worth my money.

it depends onm what u want out of it. if you want good performances and entertainment, then yes you should efiently go, but if you;re looking for a well communicated point with a profound group of actors who didnt miss the point of the show then no
but i did enjoy it because of the performance quality (but not so much the message)

Posted: 11/29/06 at 3:39pmI was it last April, and the cast was almost brand new, but I definitely found them sub-par to other B-way and tours I've seen. But...they were new. I imagine it's come together a lot better. I didn't HATE it, and definitely for $20 it's worth it. I paid $80 and felt a little jipped on the quality. Was several months ago, though.

I was going to start a similar thread to this as well. I've heard really good things about the Tour and some not so good things about the tour :/

Posted: 11/29/06 at 3:42pmFor $20? Definitely. The cast has got a couple of weak links, but it's pretty good overall. The women in the cast give some great performances.

darwhite, in April, only about 2-3 cast members were new, they almost all changed recently in September, though. because i saw it in February in Cleveland and then in August in Pittsburgh and it was the exact same cast (with the exception of the very few that left and a few understudies were on).

One of the best times I ever had in the theatre, IMO.
Go see it!

Posted: 11/29/06 at 6:30pmGo for $20. Like darwhite, I paid much more to see the tour in April and I don't really regret it. Of course, it was my first time seeing RENT on stage after waiting a very long time to see it, so even though the cast was bad, the simple fact that I was actually seeing the show cancelled out the disappointment. The cast has changed since then - I think there are only 1 or 2 performers left from the cast I saw - so this cast may be better than what I saw.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 6:33pmTracy and Chante are still in the show, and some ensemble members, like Jenna Noel (who is a fantastic Maureen understudy!!!! love her!) has anybody seen Jenna go on before? i've seen her once, in Pittsburgh...

Posted: 11/29/06 at 6:44pmHa. So is it just the usual, two hours before curtain lottery?
#15re: RENT tour: Is it worth it?
Posted: 11/29/06 at 7:15pmIt was a little underwhelming, the sound quality wasn't great when i saw it last night, but some of the new additions are a lot better than the ones I saw in Boston in June. I say go, for 20 bucks.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 8:03pmI saw the newest cast at their second stop, and I thought they were better than the cast I saw on Broadway in June. I say it's worth it.

I am a huge Rent fan, and I saw this cast in October when it was rather new. It's a very strong cast, and I believe a strong production overall. I've seen Broadway casts far less emotional performances of this production on Broadway and the tour. There isn't a weak link. The voices are beautiful, and in my opinion the cast meshes quite well. I highly suggest going for lotto and/or buying a ticket. For the record, our venue had the best sound quality I've ever heard for a production of Rent.

Posted: 11/29/06 at 9:58pmDo you know if it is a lotto? Generally, you "rush" for the tour. That means first come, first serve, and the tickets generally go on sale two hours before the show. I would call the theatre and check. Also, if for some reason you can get in line early, I would still swing by the theatre when you have a chance. The amount of people in the rush line depends on the amount of advertising in the area, dates of the show, and local interest in show.

#23re: RENT tour: Is it worth it?
Posted: 11/29/06 at 10:21pmI really enjoyed the tour. I'd go again if it came back. They didn't have a lotto, here though. It was rush seats.
