In addition, the girl who sings with Kent at the end is playing Joanne in the Rent at New World Stages. I believe that's the role she played at Michigan as well!
Yea, it's Corbin. And the other girl who joined in, Ashley something, is in Memphis on Broadway! These kids are talented. If you notice, Darren Criss is in the back row, and all of the one's who booked equity jobs are in the front, lol.
I spent 2 of my 6 college years at UMich. I was not in the theater dept, but was in the School of Music, Theatre (yea they spell it that way), and Dance. I was classmates of, often heard, and saw the musical theater students there. Like any other school with a a great program, they had their fair share of extremely talented students, some very good, some ok, and some people you have no idea how they were accepted. The talent was no better (or worse) than Northwestern, Tisch, Carnegie Mellon, or any other school with a renowned musical theater program.
That being said, I truly did see some incredible talent.
*Edit* The overwhelming majority of the theater students I knew were extremely nice, friendly people. I maybe came across one or two who seemed slightly "arrogant" or "entitled."

As someone who sits on the other side of the table, I can tell you that the U of M kids are very highly regarded in the business. When you see that on a resume, you tend to sit up straight and take notice.
Good training is something to be proud of. Not obnoxiously proud, but anyone with a bachelors or masters from a well-regarded theater conservatory worked their ass off and probably learned a lot, and deserves a bit of bragging rights.
Having seen the production itself of this show, I can testify that it was equally as moving and amazing as this video, or more so. While I haven't seen a production of Rent in NYC, I have seen the filmed (stage) version with the original cast, and I can honestly say many of those kids live up to the roles.
When it comes to the attitudes of UMich MT students, I must say that perhaps you've seen a few that have spoiled your opinion of the whole. I have several friends in the program right now who are nothing but some of the most humble, polite people I know. And that's coming from a Theatre Arts student at the same university.
AMAZING! To all the nay sayers... yeah... he's flat a bit, but he still gave me chills twice... it's great to see so many familiar faces in that crowd too. Jose Sepulveda tears it up too... I think he was one of the final few considered for angel at new world stages.... oh well... hopefully we'll see him in something good soon too.
Awesome bout Darren Chris. People can hate michigan all they want, but in the end they put more kids on broadway than most other places..... wish I'd gone there.
