RENT: The Perfect Midnight Movie

Anyone think RENT would be a good midnight movie experience? I mean the audience I saw it with last night really was kind of...blah. There really was no energy to feed off of. It wasn't like I was thinking it was going to be, in which the energy is literally shared by the entire audience during the entire movie (This happened during Kill Bill and is why those two films are two of the greatest moviegoing experiences I've ever had in my life).

RENT, I'm pretty sure, would fit into the midnight movie category. That would be the time in which the energy that was lacking in most movie theaters (Such as my experience) would be restored. There are costumes to dress up in. There are things to do for audience participation (Mooing, singing along, , etc.)

What do you guys think? Perhaps you could expand upon it and do stuff like the Rocky Horror and Hedwig cults do. I don't know if there would be a time to squirt each other, but perhaps you could throw pills or something anytime someone mentions AZT or coughs or something.

and everyone could moon the screen in the beginning of la vie boheme...

there was this place i think it's called "chubby's" in maine, about 45 min from portland, that had these long tables and chairs that were the from the interiors of towncars and on wheels (so you could move around). it was a movie theater but also had waitstaff so you could order during the movie. that sort of place would be great for a midnight rendition mainly because people could get all into it during Today 4 U and La Vie Boheme. I don't know how many of those places are around though... and in this part of Maine I doubt it would be a midnight movie.

I tried to get something like that together with my Renthead friends and I if it was still at our $ theatre after finals were over. However, it left the week before. But yes, it would be great. I'd do it. And bring some candles, too!

now that would be awesome. except no singing. i hate when people sing in the theatre
