RIALTO CHATTER: Diana DeGarmo & Ace Young to Join New HAIR Cast on Broadway

Tomorrow is Diana's showcase performance for the Country Music Association in Nashville. That doesn't mean there won't be a press release as well, but that specific tweet concerns her mini concert for CMA bigwigs.

The announcement of the new tribe should be forthcoming this week, especially since rehearsals have already started for some, but according to the NY Times yesterday, Ace and the produdcers were still negotiating. I doubt they'll issue the announcement until everything is set in stone for the whole cast.

I’m not sure if this tweet is in reference to a press release for “Hair”. Diana might be alluding to a big event that she mentioned, in the past, that she has going on in Nashville
"Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin," thought Alice; "but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life."

ace is dreamy... until he tries to sing or act. then reality shatters in. i saw him in a reading and every time he opened his mouth i wanted to vomit a little.

i also think its horrible if he is joining the cast since he just took over the Grease tour. i mean i dont want to see him when i see the tour, but still i think that spretty lame to just be like "just kididng" guys something better came along, peace out!

Will and Caissie both take their clothes off in that scene. Berger is in the back of the group, though. Honestly, I feel like if a random tribe member doesn't want to do it, whatever, but I think if Berger doesn't participate there, it throws something off. I feel like of all the characters, he has to do it.

^Absolutely. It would be a terrible character choice if the actor chooses not to get naked. And if he's in the back anyway...(well I know Will is I don't know where is replacement will be)

"I saw "Hair" but did not look that closely and now someone tells me that neither Ace nor Diana will have to do appear in the nude."

If the tradition has been that Sheila does the scene then she may do it. She's surprised people before with her willingness to go outside of her comfort zone for a role, she might again.

In reality she may be less worried about it than some of her more traditional or conservative fans seem to be.

Now Ace apparently comes from a very conservative family and might not do it because his parents wouldn't approve. The scene isn't the be all and end all of Hair but I can imagine it would look odd for patrons if both Berger and Sheila aren't in the scene.

Yeah, and there's a lot more in the show that I don't think an uber-conservative family would too readily approve of, either.

This is probably going to get me yelled at, but I feel like for Berger, if you're not willing to go all the way in that scene, don't take the part. I'm sorry, but I think the implication of him NOT taking off his clothes is too much of a problem and too much of a detriment to the character for it to be permitted. I presume once the part is cast, they can't make the actor go nude against his will, but it shouldn't come to that. If you aren't willing to do what should be required of the part, don't take it, simple as that. It's too important.
