I had never thought of America Ferrara - (if you're serious) that's an interesting take on it...
Totally serious- I actually don't know if/how well she sings, but from the very first rumours of an ITH film I've always cast America as Nina in my head.

If anyone but the OBC has to be in the movie, I'd go with Luis Guzman as Kevin, and maybe even Rosario Dawson as Nina.

I imagine that J-Lo heading to Broadway is a mix up with her wanting to be involved with the film adaption.
But yeah, I always imagined either Jennifer Lopez or Ana Ortiz as Carla in the film. How flexible is the age of Daniella? Because they could make an interesting duo for the film.
Rosario Dawson would probably be a good idea for the film, but I'm not overly found of her...and I'm not sure she'd work as Nina or Vanessa. The idea is growing on me, however.

Well if Lin is cast as Usnavi in the movie (which, IMHO he really has to be) i feel like Rosario would work better with him then Q'Orianka. And Rosario would play the role greatly, she's got spunk but just enough of the dreamer to her.
I really do like the idea of Lopez and Ortiz as Daniella and Carla respectively. They would make a great pair and with the right hair and makeup they could make these two look the same age or a good amount of difference depending on what they wanted..

I'd also use Gloria Estefan as Camila and Rita Moreno as Abuela.
