I said this in another thread, but I’ll say it again:
The fact that Riedel predicts it almost guarantees that it WON’T happen. He doesn’t predict, he just likes to throw monkey wrenches into the race predictions to get attention.
There is usually a kernel of truth surrounded by a bunch of stretched facts with Riedel.
What this tells us: Hadestown is less of a lock than we think it is, and there are some industry people who like Ain't Too Proud and will vote for it. Personally, I think love for ATP and Tootsie will split votes, and HTown will still be victorious.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

No, it just tells us that Riedel likes to stir the pot, as usual. It's the only thing he does.

If you watch the old Theatre Talks episodes on YouTube where they predict the Tony winners (and watch at your own risk, the snobbery is almost unbearable), Riedel is under the impression that the voters always go for the shows that are bigger names and more likely to be successful on tour. This hasn't been the case for years (Band's Visit, Fun Home, Gentlemen's Guide, Once) but he still believes it.
