RIP Theodore Bikel

Such an icon of the theatre.

RIP Theodore Bikel

Agreed, but I will always think of him as "that dreadful Hungarian."

"It does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are 20 gods or no god. It neither picks my pocket, nor breaks my leg." -- Thomas Jefferson

RIP Theodore Bikel

He was very talented and really shined in some of his TV work especially a Twilight Zone episode entitled " 4 0 Clock". He played Oliver Crangle - the embodiment of a truly nasty person.

R.I.P. Capt Von Trapp.

RIP Theodore Bikel

Before I knew of him as an actor, he was the face and sound on my grandmother's records. I never saw him perform live - but he was always alive in her house and then in my life, too.

RIP Theodore Bikel

I just recently saw him on a retro channel's airing of an old NAKED CITY episode. He skillfully portrayed a man who led two lives. One as a meek small businessman with an adoring son played by a young Keir Dullea. The other as a ruthless assassin shown massacring a boatload of people without a stitch of remorse. His performance was riveting and his final scene where he tells his son of his atrocities was almost too painful to watch. A wonderful actor who also was an accomplished folk singer. As a child I wrote him a fan letter when he was in SOM. He answered back with a lovely note. Rest in peace Mr. Bikel.

I saw him in Providence, RI in Fiddler in 1991. He was very good.

Saw the Naked City episode. Another one had a totally unknown Dustin Hoffman and another had an equally unknown Robert Redford . They are great. Try and see Bikel in the Twilight Zone episode I mentioned.

RIP Theodore Bikel

He was great as Captain Von Trapp alongside Mary Martin in the original Broadway performance of "Sound of Music....." It's always sad to hear about the deaths of people who gave so much to the theatre.

RIP Theodore Bikel

Theodore Bikel was a mench. His life in the theatre was only a small part of his rich and varied life.
