First Elaine Stritch, now Joan Rivers... we're losing our old-school, tart-tongued funny ladies. Cloris Leachman & Betty White -- hold on!

Awww bummer =( gonna miss seeing her on the red carpet
2014 has been a rough year for celebrity deaths. RIP Ms Rivers.
I can't believe that I watched her final Fashion Police after the Emmy Awards last week. This is such horrible news. Rest in Peace, Joan. You were one of a kind.

Truly tragic news. And to think people were making fun of her in the off-topic thread.
RIP, Joan.
Make the angels laugh, sweet lady!
81 years is a very full life, but it seemed Joan had enough vitality for twice that time span. May she rest in peace.
A fearless comedienne (who feared failure) and opened doors for female comics everywhere. Who probably would have a ton of sh$t to say about her own death in her act #RIPJoanRivers
She made me laugh and she made me groan but she was a trailblazer, for sure. Who knew we'd lose Robin Williams and Joan Rivers in a month's time? Rest in peace.
Loved Michael Urie's tweet "we weren't finished with you yet @Joan_rivers but thank you for it all"
Just. So. True.

She was like my wise mother and my boisterous aunt, both long gone, rolled into one. I hate reality shows, but I made one exception--for Joan Rivers. I will miss her comedic genius very much. She was irreplaceable. May she rest in peace as a Woman of Valor. My condolences to her family.
I had convinced myself she was going to make it. So sad. RIP, funny lady.
I was truly hoping she would pull through, she was bold, brash, outspoken and un-p.c. and I wouldn't have wanted her any other way.
R.I.P. Joan Rivers ~ you won't soon be forgotten!
She said she wanted to keep working till the end, and that's what happened. She made me laugh--a LOT!
RIP Joan
She was a true legend,"New Yorker", and such an important advocate of Broadway. RIP!
She was excellent on Theater Talk and held her own against Ben Brantley.
Speaking of which no doubt Michael Riedel will do one of his eulogy tomorrow in his column, seems he doesn't do scoops anymore.
She was the best! She had the courage to make us laugh during times of intensity when no one else dared make a joke and brought us through it with laughter- which is the best medicine.

"Gays laugh at everything. Because they're stupid." -- Joan Rivers, Don't Start With Me
Made me think of you, darrey1102.
There can be no greater tribute to Miss Rivers and her work than the ongoing debate between PalJoey and FindingNamo on another thread. (Namo, I realize "tribute" may not have been your intention, but there is a kind of tribute implied by taking an artist so seriously and discussing her work with such intelligence.)
I found the exchange informative and provocative, just as Miss Rivers herself could sometimes be.
