Oh, I hope Sewell comes to Broadway. He was great in the Illusionist.
Yes, let's all pray that Rufus Sewell come with it. He was breathtakingly good. His scenes with Brian Cox were pure magic. While we're at it, let's hope Cox comes too.
I know the work was well received by critics and awards, but how did it do at the box office? It must've done well, but everyone I know that's been to London and saw it absolutely hated it.
Well, the show has been extended four or five times, so it's obviously done well throughout its run. Well enough that the producers think it could be a commercial hit on Broadway. And after COAST OF UTOPIA, I think there are many New Yorkers that would see anything Stoppard does. That play has opened up a whole new audience for him.
Sewel is HOTTTTT.
The play is very political with one of the leads being a Cambridge professor - Brian Cox in London - who is an unrepentent Marxist and spends a lot of time defending his views. If leftist politics are a problem for some people they could have issues with this play. Then there's the continuing exposure to the rock music of the sixties, mostly British. Pink Floyd fans will love it - others might not.
I have to say that everyone I know who has seen it loved it.
Broadway can always use a little more Cox!
YAY! Another straight play on Broadway! And an original one! OOOOOH how unique!
