Congrats to the show. I am a bit surprised by the noms, but it makes sense in a way. Like it or not, the show IS different. The songs aren't original, the plot isn't original, but somehow, like it or not, the show is.
While the rubbing it in may be over the top, the hatred for the show has been just as bad if not worse (the two feed off each other). Embarrassing really. It's sad when people who I would imagine consider themselves very openminded in their politics and lives become so ironically provincial.

I AM eating crow. Plates and plates of the stuff. While I never bashed the show itself (I haven't seen it) I did not predict such a positive response to it. Congratulations to the cast, creatives, crew, and fans. Maybe I'll have to give the Brooks Atkinson a visit now.

PiraguaGuy, Do it. You will have the time of your life.
Maybe not the best time of all the times in your life, but this show is crafted, not slammed together, and has Great-White-Way-level performances all around.
It is not deeply moving [was it, for anyone? No, probably not.]
It's just a tremendous amount of fun, and it is nice to see so many really terrific Legit Theater performers (actors, singers, dancers, musicians) with an ongoing gig.
