"KUDOS TO THE CAST, CREW, AND CREATORS FOR NOT LISTENING TO ANY OF THE BULLSH*T SAID ABOUT THEIR FUN, SMART, FUNNY, CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED, HIT SHOW!!!!!!"
I couldn't have said it better SASS!!
Congratulations to Constantine Maroulis. First American Idoler to be nominated for a Tony! (Connie, it would have happened eventually without AI!)

It was a pleasant surprise to see all the Tony love (though I'll admit my jaw momentarily hit the floor with Constantine's nomination). I just wish that they could have a "dry" performance every week that those of us not interested in the "party" atmosphere could go and enjoy the show on its own merits. I would go back and see the show, and bring others, if they tried to meet some of us halfway!

...yeah, and mine, too! =I I am very glad for Constantine, and I do like him a lot, but, a nom above James Barbour's brilliant performance...?! I don't think so! It's just not right.
WHAT were they thinking? Mrk my words...at the end, it is all going to be only because another ---- manipulates her way into fame and fortune, whatever it takes. She had a card in her favor, and she played it to her advantage.

PiraguaGuy2 you rock.
Look, the show isn't brilliant but its a lot of fun and the talent on that stage is second to none.
I think people go there to forget about the dropping GDP, the unemployment rate and that their mortgages are more than their house is worth.
Buy a tix, support broadway and have a good time.

To taboo: I've been there twice (Tuesdays) and my sidekick's been there twice (other times) and neither of us experienced drunken rowdyness -- maybe there were some really excited fans in other parts of the theater, but not where I was in orchestra right. I think the first row can sometimes be a hot spot, but even then, I didn't see behavior that embarrassed me.
I think that the theater is doing its best to make it clear that disruptive behavior will result in ejection.
Of course, there are always exceptions, but I know a handful of people who've seen it at least once (on B'way) and haven't had a spoiled evening due to drunkenness or rowdy behavior.

"ah this feels sooo good.
didn't someone say they would eata hat or something if ROA got a nom?"
Keep your boards straight. That was on All That Chat, massofmen. Your typos and tendency to lowercase unless you're SCREAMING give you away, brother. Of course, over there, your antagonistic behavior isn't appreciated, so you have to come here where your sycophants will applaud your annoying immaturity. It's not good enough for you to see the show be successful - you have to rub other's faces in it. Petty. Childish.
You can't do that to me because I have always wished the show well. I am very unlikely to ever see it, however - and you're one of the reasons why.

I did see Rock of Ages. And, it was a show that I was glad I saw but not sure if I would be going back anytime soon. That's not to say that I didn't have a fun time while seeing the show.
But, I do think that it was nominated for best musical as well as other categories only due to the fact that this was not a strong season for musicals. I also think that based upon the reviews of 9 to 5, that the critics thought that it didn't match up to the same amount of hype that the word of mouth was giving it. I think that basically rock of ages was there due to the fact that there has to be a particular number of nominations in each category.

I read it this afternoon here, another thread, and I believe it was PiraguaGuy:
Well, seeing as I was one of the posters who tossed derision at Rock of Ages predictions (and Stockard Channing and David Bologna...), I humbly eat my hat.

"wait, massofmen is a female?"
So she said on ATC, but then again, she thinks she's a modern-day prophet, so who knows? You'd have to ask her.
