He wasn't very good, by many accounts. Maybe he was in over his head.
But more Roger Bart is always a good thing, so I'm not complaining.

Posted: 7/11/04 at 8:49pmOh man, they REALLY need to give him a song. Kattan couldn't sing, but Bart's got a terrific voice -- it'd be a shame to waste it.

"Guess Nathan didn't fall under Mango's spell."
Actually, Nathan and Mango fell in love, but when Sondheim heard about that, he was furious. He couldn't have that whore hangin' around HIS man.

now let's not say things we can't take back. love or hate Kattan, NOBODY can resist Mango's spell. not Walken, not anybody!
seriously though, this is great news! i may have to actually try and see The Frogs now. kudos to Roger, who seems to be having a great year, and score one for team Broadway.

Too bad. Kattan seemed like an interesting choice--I was curious to see what he brought to the table (including audiences). Looks like Stroman made a boo-boo---again.

Posted: 7/11/04 at 9:04pmYAAAAYYYY!!!! I love Roger! I could never imagine Chris Katan in a musical. He always annoyed me on SNL. YAY for Roger hes gonna be so good!

Posted: 7/11/04 at 9:05pmHe just wasn't very good and seemed lost and unsure of himself on stage. Not to mention, he seemed to have very little chemistry with Lane.

and no one felt he was strong
This is a great change

Posted: 7/11/04 at 9:20pmPerhaps they'll put the song in that they had cut. That would be great

Posted: 7/11/04 at 9:32pmGRRR, now i wish i was able to see this show. Oh well, congrats to Roger Bart. I really do wonder what happened with chris.
i don't think there's much to wonder about as far as chris is concerned#18
Posted: 7/11/04 at 9:50pmhe wasn't making it and although they could have allowed him to stay there and he would have been a mild annoyance...Bart is bound to be a great addition and he has good chemistry with Lane

Posted: 7/11/04 at 10:32pmThats a shame. I was looking forward to seeing Kattan. I met his parents at the Angela Lansbury tribute and the whole family was so excited about him doing this show. Hmmm. Who knows... it might be a blessing in disguise.

Posted: 7/11/04 at 10:41pmtrust me...it's better this way. If they had kept him and opened with him the reviews for him would have been brutal

Posted: 7/11/04 at 11:26pmRoger is my fav! I was so happy to hear this news...sad for Kattan, obviously, but playing opposite Nathan Lane is obviously not easy work..and we all know Roger is up to the challenge.
