Posted: 10/14/09 at 11:09amNote: for Hairspray, the stage was very high. I had no trouble, but I'm tall. My adult daugher, who is 5'4", got a kid's booster. Not sure if the stage for Ragtime will be as high.

Has anyone done the lottery? I am thinking of doing it this week...just curious as to how busy it is and if they offer discount seats if you lose (like In the Heights).
Also, I don't think i have ever seen a show at the Neil Simon. Are there any bad seats?

Posted: 10/28/09 at 6:22amI would definitely say there were a lot more than 75 people there at least on Friday and Saturday nights (I was helping a friend out to try and get tickets). Closer to 150+ I'd say. I chalked it up to it being the first weekend, but who knows what it's looking like.

Posted: 10/28/09 at 7:29amI'm hoping matinees will be easier to win because I'm trying to see it with my friend and we can't afford any higher that $25.

Posted: 10/28/09 at 7:46amI did it and won for the Saturday matinee and there were 40 people there max. The orchestra pit is open so the stage height is not a problem at all, although you may have to look basically straight up at times to see the action.

Posted: 10/28/09 at 7:58amtrevytoe, I was one of those 40, but didn't get picked. I will say that the young lady who was running the lottery was extremely pleasant. Although I lost, it was such a great group of people that made the experience a lot of fun.

Dottie, I agree. The girl who runs the lottery for Ragtime is so adorable and such a delight! I really enjoyed her :)
I was there on Friday and Saturday night and I would say there was no more than 50 people at both. Unfortunately, I lost both times.

Posted: 10/28/09 at 2:05pmSince this really isn't a "lottery crowd" show, I would chalk up the large crowds to Ragtime fans and theater fans in general. I expect it to slow down in the future.

Posted: 10/28/09 at 3:31pmThere were also tour buses picking people up after JERSEY BOYS let out, so a lot of the people standing outside the theatre Saturday night weren't actually part of the lottery. I'd say there were around 50 people there after the bus left.

has anyone done the rush lately? My nieces are looking to do it this Sunday and just trying to get an idea if it has been crowded.
Thanks.

Are you referring to the rush or lottery?
The lottery has been pretty consistently crowded every day except for wednesday matinees.
The rush is pretty much a safe bet. 32.50 i believe mid mezz/rear mezz seats.

Posted: 12/18/09 at 4:02pmThanks. I meant the lottery. I'm assuming if they don't luck out with that they can then go for the rush?
#19re: Ragtime rush/ lottery?
Posted: 12/18/09 at 4:08pmYeah, the rush is actually called "lottery loser rush"
#20re: Ragtime rush/ lottery?
Posted: 12/18/09 at 4:36pmWhen did they start a $32.50 rush? Every time I've tried the lottery the person running it has never mentioned that at all.
#21re: Ragtime rush/ lottery?
Posted: 12/18/09 at 4:53pmThey offered it for the first time last sunday night

Awesome! I didn't know they started a rush either. Now I have a much better shot at seeing this.
