1. The Drowsy Chaperone
2. The Light in the Piazza
3. Hairspray
4. Urinetown
5. The Producers
6. Avenue Q
7. Aida
8. Spring Awakening

Obviously Grey Gardens should have won this year, and that would have been my number one choice. But SA? You've got to be kidding me. I'd rather listen to ALW.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I'm surprised how little love Grey Gardens is getting...I honestly think it's my favorite non-Sondheim score.

Grey Gardens is getting such little love because the original question asked to rank the Tony winning scores of the decade so far.

1- Piazza
2- Drowsy
3- Producers
4- Spring Awakening
5- Hairspray
6- Aida
7- Ave. Q
I haven't heard Urinetown.

That was hard- I like all of the scores. However, if Grey Gardens had won, it would have been a very close second.

Based on the people who've responded so far (through TiffanyB, 2/6 at 9:34pm), this is the pretty clear consensus ranking:

1. The Light in the Piazza
2. Avenue Q
3. Urinetown
4. Hairspray
5. Spring Awakening
6. Aida
7. The Drowsy Chaperone
8. The Producers

Interestingly enough, no one has submitted exactly this ranking to the discussion thread. theaterkid1015 came pretty close, and therefore most closely resembles the consensus BWW opinion. I don't know if that's an honor or an insult. re: Rank the 'Best Scores' of this decade so far...

Note: this is not my personal ballot. This is an analysis of the previous posts on this thread.
