Raul Esparza Defying Gravity
re: Raul Esparza Defying Gravity#25
Posted: 3/4/05 at 12:53amHe sounds pretty impressive on the "Defying Gravity" clip, especially when he hits that high B--wow! However, despite his impressive range, his vibrato is really quite wobbly on some of the other clips...he's obviously very talented though.

Posted: 7/25/07 at 8:59pmI remember listening to this back when this thread was first posted, and I was browsing around the site-that-must-not-be-named and found a video of it! It's so worth watching. Raul obviously doesn't know the song well at all (he has to continually read the lyrics) and he makes some great over-the-top gestures. It's really hilarious. Plus, he really does sing the hell out of the song.

Over the top gestures? nahh...
I didn't realize this thread was so old, and I was like "how did they not mention Company.." heh

He was a fab Arbiter in the "Chess" concert.
Don't forget the "Chess" concert, guys...
I love "Chess" too much for my humanly health.

Misschung, I thought it looked pretty obvious that, when he had the chance to gesture, he was purposefully spoofing a little and doing some really melodramatic ones.

Excellent. Nia, I'll lobby with you. And then, when we get what we want, I'm moving into the Gershwin. Oh God, I'll be one of those people who sees Wicked every day.
Hehe, Em was just as cute in regards to Raul back then too!

Posted: 7/25/07 at 11:14pmI loved that rendition of "Defying Gravity". Now, I have to check out the "Site That Must Not Be Named". Well, if he can sing "D G", then perhaps he can try out "Popular." That would be a scream! from RC in Austin, Texas

Taryn - I know, I was being sarcastic, lol. Raul can be very...expressive
But that whole performance is very entertaining, I envy those who saw it in person

That's okay, Taryn. Seth was pretty funny, too. Now I want Raul to do another chatterbox!

As hard as it is to believe based on the current crop of Raul fans, it still is possible, even in 2007.
Wanting life but never knowing how

Posted: 7/26/07 at 7:12pmThis thread was a nice little walk down memory lane. God, that was so much fun. It is time for Raul to do another Chatterbox.
