I just got an email from Telecharge informing me that the Saturday matinee of Reasons to be Pretty (3/21), a performance I had tickets to, was canceled. So was their Wednesday matinee for this week--3/18.
This strikes me as a little strange. The two performances were so far apart, and who cancels a Saturday matinee? Anyone know what the deal is?

A change in the television shooting schedules for Steven Pasquale (who is filming "Rescue Me" for F/X) and director Terry Kinney (who is filming "The Unusuals" for ABC.)

They blame the TV shooting schedules yes, but I'm sure they will be taking this time to try and "fix" the play.
I'd start by firing Piper Perabo.
Good luck to them...

Interesting. I have to say, canceling a Saturday matinee makes me a little skeptical. I'm thinking I'll hold off on buying a new ticket until after it opens.
How are ticket sales? It's been on TDF for several weeks and most performances don't seem to be selling out.
WithoutATrace, why would they need to "fix" a play that got rave reviews at MMC just last year from almost every critic in town?
Furthermore, why would they fire an actress who was widely regarded as strong in that production? You might not have cared for Perabo, but obviously others disagree.
In all honesty, if the direction and performances are at all similar to the ones from last summer, I don't see how it was raved about. The play itself is brilliantly written but... yeah. Not all that great of a production. At least what I saw the other night.
But I do hope they use this time very wisely. VERY wisely.
Making changes to directional or acting choices (considering there are two new principle players in this incarnation) is a lot different than suggesting changes be made to the text itself.
Having seen the show at MCC, I can attest that Thomas Sadoski and Piper Perabo are delivering the same performances that were received so strongly in that production.
I don't think the play said anything that hasn't been said a zillion times before...I just felt it was mediocre material.

Then I am baffled.
