My wife and I will be in town to see the 2:00 Hamilton show.We are looking for recommendations for Saturday evening show. We would love to see Dear Evan Hansen, but tickets are a little more than we are looking to spend. Does anyone have recommendations of other shows to see?

Could you give us a little more information to help you out? What kinds of shows are you two usually into? Is there a shortlist of shows you're interested in that we could boil down for you?

Come From Away for sure! I would also think that would be the cheapest of the 3 you were interested in.

Come From Away would be the least expensive, and presumably the most available in terms of getting seats, of those three. I haven't seen it, but the show has gotten good reviews from critics and on this board.
A few Dear Evan Hansen tickets have been going on sale four days in advance on Telecharge. I was able to get three tickets together for last Wednesday night's show on the Saturday before we left for New York.

A Doll's House Part 2 has $29 Rear Mezzanine tickets on Today Tix. You could probably move closer. Given the sparse attendance you might even be able to move downstairs.

I know, right? Like a place where you could type in "Significant Other reviews," and it would show them to you. That would be amazing!

I might suggest Sunday in the Park with George because it's closing this coming weekend. All the others should be around a lot longer.

Refocus everyone --
The Posting Person was saying that he CANNOT AFFORD Sunday, CFA, and DEH and was hoping that you could suggest OTHER shows that might be less expensive and still have seats available.
Suggesting that he see Sunday or CFA.......
I know you all have been so very into Kevin Spacey's sexual (and public statement) preferences, but you might want to re-read this one.

Filtering through all the different broadway reviewers, most of which only like to here themselves talk, is painful. It would be nice if most of them would just cut through all the clever rhetoric and just say "must see", "worth the entrance fee", or "avoid". I deal with enough emails from individuals who try to act smarter than they really are throughout the day that I don't have the attention span to read through similar reviews in my spare time.

Bingo! Thanks Mike66.
I am not looking to spend $600+ for two tickets to our second show of the day.

What's your price range?
Are you interested in a play, or are you focused on musicals? (I ask because your list is all-musicals.)
Do you mind sitting in cheaper seats?
You won't have any trouble getting short, "You must see X" recommendations here.. I had no such trouble when seeking advice a couple of weeks ago.

We would be interested is seeing a play, but nothing as heavy as Blackbird. Our cap is $500.

well since everyone's posting basically their own preferences I'll take the bait
Sunset Boulevard
- you can attempt the digital lotto and score great seats for $55 (or rush for $40). Pay a little more and sit in the orchestra for the $100- range. You've probably never heard and probably won't ever hear an orchestra that large on a Broadway stage before... And plus having Glenn Close giving a legendary performance. It really should not be missed by anyone who likes theatre

I also recommend A Doll's House, Part 2.

Suggestions:
-- Check several times in the early afternoon/late afternoon for non-premium Dear Evan Hansen tickets if you're still interested in that show. There's a "four-day rule" that has worked for several people who have posted here, and it worked for me too. Basically, a few tickets in the $179-$199 range usually pop up on Telecharge about four days before the show. So today (East Coast time) might be your chance.
-- You can't really go wrong with Sunset Boulevard. I didn't see it on my trip last week, but I did see Glenn Close back in the 1990s in the same role. Many people strongly recommended the revival, and plenty of inexpensive seats are available.
-- I hesitate to recommend Great Comet, if only becauase it tends to be a show that people either love or hate. I really enjoyed it last week, and I would recommend reading the 78-page section of War and Peace on which it's based beforehand - not because the plot is all that complicated, but so you can just take in what is a unique experience without getting lost. There are still seats available, and you don't need to sit up close anyway. The cost is less than $400 for two people, and there's nothing else like it on Broadway.
-- I had planned to see Significant Other, a play, on our first night there. We had plane trouble, so we didn't make it, but it's supposed to be anchored by a strong lead performance. It's closing soon, so prices are a little higher, but still within your budget.
-- If you haven't seen Six Degrees of Separation, it's a very good play that's being revived. We almost saw the revival but decided to see something else instead. But if you like Allison Janney, she's supposed to be terrific.
-- I also considered War Paint, which is supposed to be a decent musical with two veteran Broadway stars in top form.

I highly recommend Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812. If there is one show to see in its "natural habitat" (i.e. not on tour). That is it. I was able to get tix in the rear mezz for $59 each and they were great seats. Just make sure you sit house left.
