Shades of Crawford/DOTV... though that seems too kind a comparison.

The spelling fits the poster. Jumbled, careless and incorrect.

I do. He's right most of the time.

My friends and I enjoyed this out of town tryout. I thought that they have work to do (which they now seem to be trying to do) but that there are a lot of elements there to make it a big, fun, musical comedy.
Nathan Lane is very funny and seems perfectly cast as Gomez. I agree with those who have said that it would be great for his character to be even more central, so I'm glad that it sounds like this will be the case when the show comes to NY. I also thought that Bebe Neuwirth, Kevin Chamberlin, Jackie Hoffma, Carollee Carmello and the girl who plays Wednesday (I can't remember her name) were terrific.
The book and some of the songs are very funny. I have not laughed this much during a musical comedy in a while. And there are some tuneful songs and pretty ballads. I especially liked some of the big group numbers, Wednesday's songs and Kevin Chamberlin's song in the second act. The physical production is beautiful.
So all in all, there are a lot of good elements. There are a lot of strong elements going for it. I think bringing in Jerry Zaks at this point is probably a really good thing and I definitely applaud the producers and creative team for digging in and doing the work to make the best show they can. I'll see the show again in NY, and look forward to see what changes.

"the girl who plays Wednesday (I can't remember her name) were terrific."
Wednesday is played by Krysta Rodriguez, late of In the Heights and was a replacement in the A Chorus Line revival.

I don't see why everyone hates this show so much. Yes, it needs work, but what show doesn't at this point?
I saw it twice (Unlike the OP who hasn't seen it but has a **** for bashing it) and I did like it overall!
And yes, it does need to focus on the family more, as opposed to the Beinikes.

You're welcome, Fanb. I had completely forgotten Ms Rodriguez was in Spring Awakening, and Good Vibrations, also.
When I heard she was up for Wednesday, I thought it was perfect casting. I really hope The Addams Family works out its problems before it hits NYC, but like others have said, I think it's critic-proof.
