She just tweeted. Wish I could see her! I bet she's amazing in the role. Is this her first time going on? And is anyone else surprised that Heather Headley has already called out?

Headley didn't call out for this weekend, she had previously scheduled concert appearances that she is honoring.

^ It was clearly marked on the website on the Buy Tickets section that she'll be out due to previously booked concerts.
Rema Webb is AMAZING. Definitely a standout in the ensemble

"Why are you so messy? That was a rude statement that you made before even knowing the circumstances. You must live a very non eventful life.

If I lived the non eventful life that you mentioned, don't you think I would have had time to do the said research on Heathers schedule? Sorry for not being aware but maybe you should take a break from bashing everyone who says anything about Heather Headley missing a performance, as I can see that you have done in the other thread.
Thank you to everyone who responded to this thread properly. Can't wait to hear how Rema is!

Anyone on here see her this weekend, as Shug? If so, let us know how she did! I saw TCP in March and during general dialogue between characters, and even during some principal solos, I often sought her out to see how she was responding to what was happening. She was incredible in the ensemble.

Based on her performance in A New Brain, I can't imagine she would be anything less than spectacular. Would also love to hear some reports
I hope someone here attends and will report back! I'm sure she'll be nothing less than stellar.
Just got out of the matinee today and Rema's last performance until Heather returns and there is nothing but amazing things to say about Rema!
I have only seen JHud in the role and did not notice how much I was missing of Shug until today with Rema in the role, she delivers every line with conviction and actual underlying meaning, fully creating a character from her first line "you suuuuure is ugly", with a big laugh before the line, it was a great delivery that somehow (perhaps it's similar to the movie) got the audience to say it with her! I was pleasantly surprised.
During Shug's down-time and no-line responses which showed JHud's weaknesses in the acting department, Rema shined and made it a point to be in character and truly act the part. Her kiss with Celie was very heartfelt; her Push Da Button was incredible, she truly OWNED that stage from the beginning to the end of the song, although her final notes were not as high as JHud's, but she was in great voice as well.
Interestingly, her scene before "The Color Purple" and the song itself was the highlight of the show for me (second to Cynthia), I'd never cared for that scene or song, but Rema delivered it so beautiful that it got me tearing. Leading up to the Easter Scene and after, she commanded the stage with her one liners and the audience loved her.
Cynthia is better than ever, so there are no words to describe her. I am so glad I got so see Rema, who btw looked GORGEOUS in costume (potato quality photo attached)
I'm so glad to hear that she got to go on! She really is such a fabulous performer!

She will have MANY chances to play Shug if she's covering Heather Headley. Probably at least 2 or 3 times a week.

No, she won't. Moving on.

What makes you say that?

PThespian said: "It's not worth speculating about."
Then why are you speculating?
The fait accompli here is people using a pre-planned absence to honor an existing contract as "proof" that Headley will have attendance problems. Somehow, it's okay to suggest that she will be out 2-3 performances a week (such specificity!) but not that she will honor her contract.
