Is anyone else looking forward to this? The preview looks hilarious! Sneak peek here: http://abc.go.com/primetime/uglybetty/index.html
I'm a little disappointed in the set up, however La LuPone is a welcome addition to just about anything. IMHO.
what part of the setup are you disappointed in? the show? the character?
i agree that patti lupone is a welcome addition to the show. ^^

this will be my first time to watch.
who knows, maybe i'll become addicted.
Norn, I think you will love it.
Can we say Ugly Betty The Musical... you know they're planning it.

I have actually thought about that, maybe adapting the first season? The show has a actual story arc and if you could set down a beggining, middle, and end, and selectivly edit the sub-plots so it wouldn't be all over the place, I think it could work.
EDIT; Boublil and Schönberg could write it and Amanda could sing "On My Own". HA!
The set up is almost the same as Will & Grace, when Jack's mother didn't know he was gay. From the commericials, it seems like alot of the same jokes. Just not very original. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the show. I would watch it anyway. But, I am just a pinch disappointed.

I think this show is wonderful and I really like Patti Lupone.
yeh, but W&G didnt have America Ferrera.
and im sorry Marc is a better character than Will ever was.
I wouldn't compare W&G to Ugly Betty, too different. But there are many ways to tell gay stories, and although I'm happy it's not an HIV storyline, coming out storylines aren't fresh either. I wait for the day when gay people can have comedic situations not involving coming out, hiv, or queenie melodramatic friends.
oh MY...Patti is fantabulous!!! Love her hair :)

Oh, this is wonderful...I've been smiling non-stop since the kitty POV shot.
just waiting for patti lupone to bust out in her fishnet tights and start singing "a little priest" =D

It's okay for now. Her character isn't exactly a laugh riot, but I'm sure she'll build throughout the episode. And I was reading in EW a few weeks back that they're planning an Ugly Betty musical episode for next season because the cast desperatly wants to do one. Apparently everyone can sing except Eric.
oh i love this show.
it's also interesting how having patti lupone on the show is also drawing in more viewers, as people are drawn to watching ugly betty for the first time.
I love it when Patti's a bitch, but that was chilling.

Yeah, I know.
As dorky as it may be (and it is dorky), I hated to hear those things come out of her mouth.
Ugh, I'm all sad now...

WOW, i liked that show much more than i thought i would!
i was so impressed with the production, judith light....& yes, vanessa williams!!!!
& i would have never given it a chance if it werent for Patti!
Once again, a great performance by Patti!
wait, is she going to be a guest for next week too?
that's such an odd ending
Woah.
I had to keep reminding myself that she was acting for that scene... I just couldn't believe she whipped out her hardcore bitch on Ugly Betty!
I spose its a testament to her acting prowess that she made chills run up and down my spine when she said that last line before walking out the door.
It's really good. Aside from the cast and writing, the production design and editing are so creative for network TV. n69n, weren't you shocked by the care that's taken with the visual style of the show?
I hated the first 2 or 3 episodes, but I'm glad I stuck with it.

The visuals of the show are AMAZING.

yeah, theres so much detailed art direction, let alone the post production!
i'm also impressed that the tranny character is a successful competitive bitch rather than played as a victim!!! i think thats very cool!
I'm gonna preface this by saying Im a huge fan of the show.
Now. Having said that...
Was Lapone strolling through a paper-thin perforance or what? C'mon, people, there was nothing there, and she certainly didnt seem inclined to ferreting anything out. It could have been done better by a half dozen character actresses.
