We're not "people" pal. We're family.
Yeah, her talent was a little bit wasted. Yet, it was still a pleasure to see her on the show.

it got people like me who wouldve never watched the show otherwise to tune in...hence, she was not wasted.

I though Patti was wonderful on the episode (which I didn't get to watch till today. Stupid night class). The last scene between her and the actor who plays Marc was so well done, it broke my heart. Even though Mama Weiner has written Marc out of her life, I hope she comes back again.
And I'm glad more people are getting on the "Ugly Betty" train! I've loved this show since the very beginning.
i agree - i'm really glad Michael Urie finally got a chance to show a different side of his character, as well as getting to stretch his acting muscles.
really hope they bring patti lupone back, possibly for reconciliation?? maybe that's too convenient of an conclusion.
Well, all I can say is, talk about your low expectations... She probably didnt come cheap, and it was money thrown down the crapper. Sometimes having a "name" performer doesnt mean much, and IMHO this episode proved it.

I love Ugly Betty. I can't wait for the next episode.
I thought Patti did a fine job. She was playing a subdued character for Patti, not one of the over the top women she usually gets to play, and she came off fine. The last scene with Michael Urie was very well done, quite moving.
I had an idea, they bring her back, and Marc needs a 'boyfriend' to throw in her face, and he chooses Henry (the accountant, and Betty's crush).
Okay Sean, once is enough!
I can't see them leaving it like this, I'm 90% sure that they'll bring her back.

Gee, sorry I offended your sensibilities, but get over yourself, huh? Your sig says far more about your reverential attitude towards a second-rate sit-com actor than anything else. Deal with the consequences.
Oh my, I bucked widely held opinion about a STAR. Wow. What a shocker. Well, at least I can cross that one off the things to do list.

ive noticed SeanMartin hates everything & seems to enjoy pissing all over everyone's good time, whether its Patti on UGLY BETTY or the NOTHING LIKE A DAME benefit.
not only does he bash the event in question, but he bashes the people who enjoyed it.
weird.

I thought she was "subdued" from what we've come to expect from her on stage, but this is a different medium. Film acting means you have to act without words, whereas on stage, words are what you use. I thought she gave such a cold performance, and I mean that in a good way. It was very chilling, you could tell she was constantly judging them while she talked and watched. Also, the fact that they chose her, I have a feeling they'll be bringing her back. And I'm glad they didn't make her "the crazy cat lady" and instead made her have some sort of actual human emotions.
Rentboy, you made an excellent point. TV and stage are two different mediums, and acting must be adjusted accordingly.
If we wanted Patti to be her stage persona, it definitely would have made a caricature of her tv character. (a la Kristin Chenoweth on TV/film) Patti did a fabulous performance, and showed her talent by adjusting beautifully to performing on tv.
Apparently none of you saw her 4 season run on ABC TV's LIFE GOES ON...where she played A MOTHER. Your basic middle-class mother! I guess you guys only discovered her playing these crazy over-the-top dames on Broadway, but Patti's been around for about 30 years AND has played different roles -- not all of them like her recent Broadway incarnations.
Huh... well look at that!
