From Cindy Adams this week: So — heading here is Renée Taylor with her late husband Joe Bologna’s comedy ” “My Life on a Diet.”
In ’86, it was moving — or at least inching — to the big screen. In ’87, the title became “My Life on a Diet: Confessions of a Hollywood Diet Junkie.”
Now, she says, “I’m coming to Broadway. A one-woman show. We’re looking for a theater. You have to see first what closes so I can’t say an opening date yet — but it’s this season.”
With Hangmen in abeyance.... Cort seems logical.

I was a huge Renee Taylor fan before she did "The Nanny," which I think was a travesty of her talents as a comedienne. But the thought of seeing her sans her late husband Joseph Bologna in a Broadway play sounds too rare an opportunity to pass up. I read the reviews of their previous Broadway attempts and stayed away because of them not being favorable.
The best thing the Taylor-Bologna team every did besides getting married was their early film, "Made For Each Other,"
Being rather chubby myself, I could use some humorous jibes at maintaining a diet. Please don't overinflate the ticket prices for a one woman show. But I am sure that is what is motivating Ms. Taylor for her return to Broadway. She probably thinks she can command Bette Midler ticket prices.

This played a short run in Buffalo and they couldn't give away tickets in a 400 seat house. I love Renee, but putting this on Broadway is reaching. It's better suited for Theatre Row or New World for a limited run. I wish her all the best with it.
