There's no such thing as "not doing justice to the stage version". They are two VERY different things, and one not being the same as the other doesn't make the enjoyment of one over the other any different. If the movie sucks then it sucks. It doesn't denegrate the stage play. Personally, I thought the movie "Chicago" was better than the stage version, so who knows what'll happen with "RENT". It's not a perfect show, and had Larsen lived I doubt we would have the same show that is currently playing at the Nederlander.

I hope they keep the musical scene where Angel and Collins meet for the 1st time. I love the "You O.K., honey..." song.

...also, i wish they would include "For someone cool, you're a fool" from the original workshop into the movie.

Ah, I love the 'Happy New Years'. They're a couple of my favorite tracks... oh well. We'll see what's in and what's out in and what's out in a month.

i am glad the "voicemails" are out .... they always annoy me when i am in the middle of a workout and here those bloody things come on.
... i suppose i could always edit them out of my library

Amazon lists it as $27.98, which means it must be a double disc!

I'm actually going back and forth about whether or not to get the soundtrack before the movie comes out. I have a feeling just watching these boards is going to make me get it...

I'm in such a conundrum! Do I pre-order it in hopes that I'll get it BEFORE the release date, or do I restrain myself and just go out bright and early for it on 9/27?
Gotta be a double disk at that price. YESSSSS.

I'll preorder from amazon and get the bonus stuff from iTunes.
I'm not a gay stereotype. I'm a coincidence.

I just listened to the samples of the soundtrack off the Rent site and now I'm getting so excited. Only a month left to go until I can at least be satisfied in my need for hearing what they've done with the music at least. But is anyone else as upset as me that they took the Happy New Years out? I love them!
J'ai compris tous les mots, j'ai bien compris, merci.............

Don't anyone get upset, but if they pushed back the movie, they may push back the soundtrack also (that has happened on more than one occasion)---and I haven't seen it in a release book yet (but first thing Monday am I'm looking to see if I have a WEA book for the 27th!!)
