LALOUISA – No, I’m not a teenager. I’ve been a RENT fan since it opened. But I do see your point. I guess for some shows, it’s better to have the original actors. RENT being one of them.
And really--if the cheering for her ruined a poignant moment, wouldn't that make her turning to Taye and giggling and making that moment *gasp* about her and her husband rather than the show even worse?
Huh, i found nothing wrong with that honestly. They did meet on the set of Rent, and I think she was making a point about Larson's play changing lives in so many ways, and theirs being one of the ways. Its pretty sweet I think - and didnt take any focus away from Larson.
I think we need to lighten up. Cheering notwithstanding, Im just glad that the OBC came tgr once more to close the show, even if it was with an abridged SOL. Let's just be thankful for that I guess.

lets start by saying, NOT happy with the new mark. I was disappointed Harley didn't get to close the show, buti figured if they got a random college kid, he must be good. far from it....
and the entire RENT performance seemed like an afterthought. seasons requires no physical movement and the entire OBC could have performed it. there was so excuse not to.
and adam wasn't even audible.

"It was a nice little tribute, of course i wish they had been more but i dont know why everyone is moaning.
The Tonys is not there to be a tribute to Rent or any other shows, Rent will pull out all the stops on its closing night at it's own theatre.
I enjoyed seeing the old cast with the new"
I agree. Furthermore, I think it would have come off cheesy had they done a true recreation of their roles and done a whole number. They took their bows with dignity.
In the theater world, she's the biggest star of the cast (so to mention that Adam, Anthony, and Taye's fans didn't scream is absurd--all three fanbases combined aren't as large, nor is their theater work as popular), and got a bit of recognition for it.
Size of the fanbase has nothing to do with it. Manners do. This was not the time to recognize Idina's theatre work.
A lackluster tribute indeed.
Any way you slice it, the Idina upheaval was out of place. Poignant moment or not, that was not happening for every other person who spoke so there was no need to single her out of what was supposed to be a COLLECTIVE tribute to the show.
Patti's drunk ass trying to clap over her head completely redeemed it though. Love that bitch.
Setting the Idina thing aside for a momement. Did anyone else think that Wilson looked kind of sick? I mean he looked like he lost a lot of weight...

I was watching the performance on the tube and was reading the comments. This one really stood out:
"i love RENT soo mcuh and it deserves to stay open..i mean Johnathon Larson died for this show so why not keep it open for him and in the spirit of him?"
Larson didn't die for the show.
They are going to keep a show open that is losing money in the "spirit" of Larson? Right...
I really hope this is not a member of BWW who wrote that comment.
They can't even spell.
And teh pohsterz on hear cann ?
the cries for Idina were so ****ing obnoxious. Just gives me another reason to hate the little fanboys and fangirls.

If you're going to criticize their writing, you should check yours first.
Thanks. My mind is kind of off today! :)
Did Daphne change dresses for the "performance"? It looked like she had on another evening dress and there was nothing "RENT" about the one she wore on stage.
